This was our second stay at the Wynn (we've tried the Encore, too, but prefer the Wynn). We like the Wynn for e- location, the rooms, the great amenities in the room (safe, fax machine, super soaps, lotions, etc.) electric drape and sheer openings, "one-touch" lighting conrols, etc.)
Check-in was smooth. We had two rooms. Slight problem on second day of our stay: one of the rooms was not serviced. When we pointed it out the next day, the front desk made it seem like it was our fault: "Did you call when you discovered the room wasn't cleaned?" --"Ummm, no, when we got to the room after midnight, we intended to sleep--not wait around for housekeeping to come and clean the room." The attitude was less than friendly or accomodating.
Otherwise, the rest of the stay was fine....until check out. We had prepaid for the room through a special promotion on the Wynn site--but we had to call to make a change to the reservation. During the call, they mentioned the $25/day resort fee--I thought it was included in the prepayment. Apparently not. Good thing I had to look at the bill, though--because they added two $8 charges for mini-bar items that we never took/touched, etc. When I queried what they were for, I was told it was for 2 bottles of water. ($16 for 2 bottles of water?!) The frustrating thing was that we went to Walgreens (very close--just under the Venetian) and bought a case of our own water on the first day of our stay. We never touched their water. They made me sign a statement to that effect, and then reluctantly credited back the $16 to my card. Sheeeesh.
Aside from these two somewhat minor service slips, everything else at the Wynn was great. It's a beautiful hotel. It's clean. It's well maintained. Although it opened in 2005--it looks brand new. We will stay here again, no doubt--although on our next Vegas trip we want to check out the Cosmpolitan--it looked great when we walked through it.
If you haven't tried the Buffet at the Wynn, do so! We had a brunch (4th of July holiday brunch) that had a great combination of breakfast/lunch items, and on our final night (Friday) we had dinner--which included crab legs and tons of other great stuff. The food is hot, freshly prepared, and tasty. The dessert bites are perfect. Even if I weren't staying at the Wynn, I would make it a point to eat at their buffet--at least once or twice during a week long stay.
Go for a high floor for a great view of the strip. Be sure to confirm that your view is of the strip...
