“Enjoyable stay at the South Point”

I recently stayed at the South Point and was very satisfied with every aspect of my stay. My husband and I did fairly well at the casino, the choice of restaurants are varied and reasonably priced, and our room was spacious with a large plasma t.v. I liked the pool area alot- also very spacious, clean, and pleasant. My husband and I had a massage at the spa and thought the whole experience was excellent. The spa had numerous enjoyable amenities which included robes and slippers, a jacuzzi and a cool pool, a eculyptus steam room and sauna, and a waterfall of super high pressure water to let fall on your shoulders or back. There also was a relaxation room with all types of non-alcoholic beverages, fruit, comfy chairs and a fireplace.
Additonally, the hotel has movie theaters, a bowling alley, and an equestrian center. We stayed for there for 2 nights and never needed to leave the property. I highly suggest joining the slot club as they send promotions through the mail. I stayed on a promotion I received which included 2 nights for the price of one, a $20 food credit, a $10 slot credit, and 20% off spa services. It was an unbelievable value and we had a great time at the South Point. I highly recommend this hotel.
For me, there was no downside but I am middle aged and appreciated the spaciousness and quiet. I am not sure this hotel would appeal to a 20-something who likes to go clubbing and be near the strip. This hotel is about 15 minutes from the strip.

“Great value but had some issues...”

South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa

First off, let me just say what a great value this hotel is! It is definitely south of the strip but for less than $100 a night, it is worth the drive. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and quality of our room. The rooms are a little on the yellow side...the pictures do not exaggerate that.
My only complaint is on our third night, we got stuck in the elevator with our 4 year old daughter. The operator on the other end of the elevator phone was very nice and kept in contact with us while the service guys tried to get the elevator functioning again. They tried in vain for about 15 minutes and my husband finally tried to pry the elevator doors open and was able to get them open(good thing he's a construction worker) and get us out. I don't know how long we would have waited if my husband hadn't taken the initiative to get the doors open. I was relieved because I'm pregnant and my bladder was getting full.
Needless to say, the manager came to our room asked if we were okay and then promptly left. We were a little rattled but no worse for the wear but I was a little surprised that she wasn't a little more concerned. I honestly expected our stay to be comped or at least the situation addressed by management by the time we checked out but NOTHING. We had to ASK for some kind of compensation and the the desk clerk grudgingly went back to ask the manager and she took one meal off our room service bill.
The service was lacking and my daughter is a little rattled about elevators, but if you are looking for economy this is your place.
We will be staying somewhere else next time we come to Vegas.

South Point really is a fantastic place to stay. The hotel is only a few years old so everything still feels nice and new.
The rooms are lovely...huge with nice comfy beds. The food is great value and really quite good considering the low prices.
The bowling alley is huge and is very cheap compared to the ones in the UK.The cinema is a great added extra.
I fell lucky with the pool, because when i booked, the pool was closed and not due to re-open until 23rd May(2 days after my departure) due to construction work. However,it re-opened early and my son was delighted. It is a lovely heated pool and never got nowhere near crowded during our stay.It was nice to be able to chill out without the crowds.
Be warned-----the jacuzzi pool is like stepping into a hot bath---quite strange in the middle of the desert.
I diidnt go to Las Vegas for the gambling, but the casino seemed nice and light and airy.....not one hint of tobacco smoke.
The hotel shuttle runs to the Mandalay Bay,with the last return trip at 1.30am.If you miss the shuttle the taxi fare from the Mandalay is around $15.
I really cannot find anything negative to say about this hotel.I highly recommend it.
p.s the construction work was just about completed during our stay.

“before you sleep tell the housekeeper to change the pillows or be paranoid....”

South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa

23 May 2008
0/13 found this review helpful

i loved the new hotel atmosphere. right when you step into the hallway to the rooms, you can smell the new carpeting. that was the best part of the experience. however, when you stay over that's when you'll be discontent. when you sleep with stinky pillows, from them not changing the pillows daily, that ruins everything. you start getting paranoid as i was with the towels, to see if they really do wash them. since you're not there most of the time only to sleep, you won't notice these things until bedtime. by that time, there's no housekeeping around 1/2 am. especially when you're on a schedule, you don't wanna waste your day watching over the housekeepers to see if they do replace the towels/sheets after each guest leaves. my guess is that they probably don't since i got the smell.
hope the next person's experience is a better experience than mines.

“Nice room, reasonable price”

The room was spacious and very clean. The food was good. You're several miles from the strip, but they have shuttles if you don't have a car. Only issue was fan noise from the roof below our room. I booked this through i4vegas and got a pretty good discount.
