Great Hotel!

New York - New York Hotel and Casino

11/11 found this review helpful

We stayed at the NY NY for a long weekend, visiting from the UK.
We found the hotel to be really good throughout, staff at check-in were excellent and efficient- with none of the queues I saw at other hotels over the weekend.
The room was fine- not amazing but fine and big enough, we had a view at the back of the hotel over the rollercoaster but could not hear it unless we really tried.

The main thing about NYNY is the attention to the theme; the casino looks fantastic and although not the biggest I feel it was the best on the Strip for appearance and atmosphere.

The Times Square bar was always full and the piano players made it an enjoyable place. We also ate in the America restaurant- efficent and excellent.

I agree with comments elsewhere that the hotel is lively and I am sure that quieter hotels exist even in Vegas, but if you are going for the weekend and want somewhere that just sums up Las Vegas, is full of character, has a great location then I would recommend NYNY!

The New York New York was an awesome place to spend the long veterans day weekend. The room was fairly spacious, however they could not provide us with a king sized bed as we had requested, and the TV was pretty small. The bathroom was also very spacious and beatiful with marble floors and countertops. The casino is not as large as the casinos at many of the other resorts, however it is very easy to walk across the short bridge to the MGM or to the Excalibur if you want to be in a larger casino. The monorail also has a station within the MGM which is just across the street, incase you want to visit a resort further down the strip. As for the noise, it did not bother myself or my girlfriend at all. We only heard the roller coaster once, and it was at 3 in the afternoon.
We got room service the first morning we were there and it was excellent. They brought us up a huge fresh fruit tray and a large pot of coffee very quickly after we had ordered it. The America restaurant also has great food, try the rueben, it was huge! This hotel has many good late-night dining spots as well that serve items such as pizza and hot dogs and sandwiches; there is nothing better than coming back from a long night of drinking to a slice of pizza. We were also impressed with the drinks to go from Coyote Ugly. A few of those and you're feeling pretty good.
I would probably stay at the NY NY again, but I would have to agree that it is the type of hotel that you don't want to spend more than a few nights at.

We stayed in this hotel with 4 other friends for a wedding. The bride and groom stayed in the Aladdin. We have previously stayed in the Luxor which I would rate better than the NYNY. The main problem with the hotel was the noise, I know all casino hotels are noisy but this place has no place to chill. It is a bit like a stag do in Blackpool every evening! Its a great place for a few nights but for a week like we had you need another holiday when you get home. Having said that the Staff were great, food excellent and good value and location is good, oposite the MGM Grand and next to Excalibur. We did take the upgrade we were offered on arrival, the room was very chic but half the size of our freinds who did not upgrade but their room was more 80's than boutique! Overall a fantastic hotel if you are only there for 2 or 3 nights.

Love Vegas, New York...OK!

New York - New York Hotel and Casino

We have just returned home from a weekend at the New York, New York. The hotel has a wonderful theme, and they pay attention to a lot of the little details. The rooms are pretty standard for what you get on the strip at that price, the bathrooms are a little boring and the shower pressure was not very good.
We were able to check in immediately, and the line though pretty long moved quickly. We had an issue when we tried to get into our room at the end of the night, our keys no longer worked, as they thought they had changed our room. They told us we would have to wait an hour for someone to bring us new keys, so we went down to the desk where they issued new keys, only to get up to the room and not have them work...again. Finally after telling us they had reissued our room (with our luggage in it...nothing was taken though)...they gave us correct keys and we had no further problems. It was rather inconvienient but could happen anywhere, I just felt that the hotel did not deal with it very well, as it took an hour to finally get into our room (with us going up and down the elevators) and they would not compensate us for our time and trouble.
The location the hotel is south strip, and though there are some nice hotels nearby, it is quite a walk to get to any of the shopping hotels. I have been to Vegas many times, and find that if you like to get out and spend time in other hotels, this one was not as convienient as the hotels mid-strip in a similar price range.
Overall the hotel was fine, but I probably would not return.

Stayed here for 1 week in a spa deluxe room - this was fantastic! well worth the extra money. room very spacious and jacuzzi was fun, vending machines on every floor which was good.would have been nice to have had tea/coffee facilities in room as well but not that important to us. casino was fab. facilities in hotel excellent - lots of bars and restaurants. Went to America restaurant - good food, but one member of the bar staff there was very rude and always short changed us but the manager soon sorted that out! he was very nice. Love everything about Las Vegas and the New York New York hotel - will definately be back to both! Would reccommend anyone going to Las Vegas that they take a short journey on bus/taxi to Fremont Street - this is a fantastic place! Go to the Las Vegas Club at Fremont for a fab burger! Also take a trip out to the premier fashion outlet mall if you like to shop and like to get good stuff cheap! We love Vegas!! Stewart and Catherine, Scotland.
