Stayed here July 14th -17th,my first time in Vegas.Arrived hot and flustered from death valley and the jaw dropping first sight of the Strip.Valet parking was fabulous and is one of the USA's
best inventions.Check in was quick ,no queue, upgraded one level of room for £10.00 per night.Room was pretty basic but clean and fine for our needs.Stayed in Century Towewr level with the rollercoaster, there was no noise.
Initially the casino floor/theme area was impressive but I soon got fed up with the confusing layout which I know is common to all LV hotels but seemed worse here.
Had a few beers in the Irish bar which was ok ,ate buffet at the Bellagio and MGM(which was better and no queue)
NYNY has a great house band "Phoenix" if you like classic rock make sure to see them in the bar area.
location is good for monorail and tram access(v important)
I think next time I go I'd pick a less themed hotel, but was quite happy with NYNY as an introduction to Vegas

My girlfriend and I stayed at NYNY from July 17th through July 20th, and had a GREAT time to say the least. We booked through MGMMIRAGEVACATIONS(--) and and Exclusive amemity included was the Invited Guest check in (supposedly to avoid the crowded check in) We arrived @ 200p and stood in the Invited Guest line which was 3 deep at the time (regular guest check in had about a dozen couples/families) We stood there for about 15 min before we we're ushed to the regular guest check in due to a hold up with a guest, no big deal. The staff member was very accommodating, and we were in our room by 230p. We received a Park Ave. Room in the Century Tower overlooking the MGM, Trop and Excalibur which was wonderful. The room is descent size, king bed/armoire/desk and two chairs w/ plenty of room to maneuver and store luggage. The bathroom are very well decorated, marble floors/normal sized shower. (These people who critisize their rooms must be hermits, you are in vegas, do you really spend alot of time in the room?!?) Anyways, after we got situated, we went down to Gonzales Y Gonzales for lunch, not wait, seated in the 'outdoor' courtyard for smoking purposes and ordered their Margarita's w/ souvenier yard glass ($14.95 per) which were descent, no big deal, and the meal again was okay (had the carne asada tacos, not alot of flavor). After that we walked the strip yada yada yada. For dinner we chose ESPN Zone, great food/drinks/atmosphere. We chose to go to the House of Blues @ Mandalay Bay which was awesome, no cover, great bar tenders/service/atmosphere. One unique thing was they were holding Karaoke, but with a live band, Good talent. Next day spent some time at the pool, it is a bit on the small side (compared to Caesar's Palace) but it gets the job done. We got there about 11a or so and had no trouble finding 2 lounges. Food is good, and service is a little slow. Left about 3p to have lunch at the pizza place and the deli. My girlfriend had the pizza, which was ok , and I opted for the Italian Stallion sub at the Deli which was excellent. Spent some time gambling and ate at the ESPN Zone again for dinner. Went over to the MGM and hung out at Centrifuge, cool bar, every so often a certain song comes on the bartenders get on the bar and dance for about 5min. After that went back to NY NY and hung out at the Big Apple Bar, great cover band. Next day ate at America for breakfast, descent food and fast service. Went to the Forum Shops at Caesars. Left there and went to the Pink Taco @ Hard Rock for lunch - slow service, okay food/marg's. Went back to NY NY for dinner at the pizza/deli restaurants again. We enjoyed the dueling pianos at The Bar @ Times Square, great time. Be sure and get there by 7p (8p show) M-Wed to get a guaranteed seat. If you go during a weekend (Th-Sun) get there by 6p (7p show) You can reserve a seat for $25 if you want. Stayed there for about 3.5 hours, left gambled and enjoyed some irish music at Nine Fine Irishmen, great times. Last day, wehad a 5:30p flight out, so we walked the strip to Margaritaville @ Flamingo, and enjoyed some marg's and cocktails and music, a must see and enjoy. That was about it, I would definately stay again...Great price/location/restaurants/bars/shops.

After reading the reviews I wasn't sure if we made the right decision booking this hotel. Upon arrival check in was very very quick. We bought the "Manhattan Special" and were promesed to get an upgrade on our room. If what we got was the "up graded room" then I imagine the regular room isn't that great. Our room was OK, I thought it was quite small and there was not enought room for two big suitcases. The room was clean, the bed was great. we DID NOT hear the roller coaster even though we could see it through our window.
The only thing we hated was the location of our room, even though we had a Strip View, we had to walk A LOT to get to it, and when I say a lot it was!!
We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't tell you about the food.
The slot machines where ok. The thing we liked the best about this hotel was the piano show at The Bar. Those guys are amazing and we had a great time going there.
Staff was helpful and over all I liked it but probabliy would try a different hotel on our next trip to Las Vegas.

New York - New York Hotel and Casino

I stayed at the New York New York with my boyfriend July 11-14. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really worth the money either. We were much happier and more comfortable at the Sahara. There were a LOT of families wandering around NYNY, which was annoying and a little inappropriate. I hope when I have children, I'm not compelled to bring them to a city where you can gamble, drink all night and buy prostitutes. Not good parenting. Anyway, I booked the room through expedia, and we received a double queen instead of king room. We chose not to complain about that (we can easily fit in a queen), but the view (or lack thereof) from the window was a joke. Really. We actually laughed. The window was frosted, except for the top foot or so, which was blocked by a wall anyway. The bathrooms were not what was depicted on the NYNY website. They were much smaller. However, once again, we didn't complain because we didn't intend to be in the room much. We didn't spend much time at NYNY gambling because of all the children, and also because the craps tables were consistently set at $15 minimums. We actually went down to TI and the Mirage and spent most of our time gambling there.

The maid service was slightly below average. We ate at Chin Chin, which was good, and the service was wonderful. Same with Nine Fine Irishmen. The bars were lame and not really interesting for people between the ages of 24-35. And we're not even really nightclub people.

Summary: NYNY is a family/older people casino, and they charge too much for an average time. Next time I want to spend that kind of money, I'll stay at Mandalay Bay or the Mirage.

Stayed and played at NYNY from July 11 thu 16. I loved my corner room, it was huge and clean, with spectacular views out of many windows. I was in the Century Tower on the 23rd floor. I really liked the line of bath products they use, wonderful scents like grapefruit and pomegranate etc. The staff was quite friendly and pleasant everwhere, from the hotel to the casino to the folks at Scirocco's pizza working their butts off and remaining professional and attentive when dealing with the drunks at 2 am on a Fri night. The hotel overall seems to me to have a NY in the 70's, Studio 54 type of theme, the house band is great, lots of 70's and 80's rock, however you will hear the same songs each night, lots of BON JOVI, but it does seem to be what the crowd wants. The dueling pianos are very good also, again, lots of 70's and 80's music.

One thing out of place and quite unenjoyable to me was the music at the pool, I just don't understand why they broke away from the 70's and 80's theme and played HIP HOP at the pool, especially in the morning, 9 am, when 90% of the patrons were 40's, 50's, 60's easy listening kinda folks. It is NOT the HARD ROCK! It definitely felt like the music was chosen by and for the very young pool staff and not the bleary-eyed patrons.

The food in the America Cafe was very good. I wish I had gone to Starbucks, I did not like the room service coffee or the coffee at Il Fornaio's, it was bitter.

I will return! Great location on the Strip too, oh and I had a view of the rollercoaster, one of the big hills, very fun, a little disconcerting though to often look out and see empty cars making their practice runs, that was a little creepy, you have been warned!
