Background - Go to vegas at least 2-3 times a year. Stayed from Imperial Palace to MGM Skylofts.

Registration area is completely separate from the Venetian check-in. When coming in through the main arrival doors looking towards the Venetian registration desk, look towards the right for a passage way to a set of elevators. Go up the elevators (you'll only have one choice) and go left to the registration area. Yes, this is 10 floors up from the main floor! First thing....whoa no Venetian scent! Could this be? For those that suffer from the dreaded scent a la forum comments and TR's, I believe this is a June Jacobs Green Tea scent. Quite pleasant IMHO. Check-in was smooth as I was the only one there. Comped rooms was upgraded to a view of the strip. The journey to the elevator banks is a little further than expected as you have to 'round' the courtyard/pool area and wedding chapels. Rooms were located on the 12th Floor (22nd actually) and were the typical Venetian suite. Shows a little bit of wear but other than that, its nice. Sunken living room TV gets used while DW takes a nap after being pooped from being on the strip. Bed is comfortable but not as comfortable as the property next door, The Palazzo. The Bathroom was great as the shower had a massaging head and two water jets for the back. Its like a spa in your own room. Never an issue getting hot water either. Yes the TV got used in the washroom too. The view of the strip was great as I watched the Mirage volcano show from the window. A different perspective from the coaches box than the players bench up front.

What can I say, you have all the fine restaurant and stores located in one hotel...you really dont have to leave. If you cant find what youre looking for, Forum shoppes is kitty corner.....and fashion show mall is on the other kitty corner. Best thing? Theres a Walgreens below! DW and I was under the weather and we should receive slot points for our visit to walgreens as we used every "Tom Dick and Harry over the counter meds" to try get rid of our colds.

K...this review is too long and continue on as a TR in the forum section. Long and short...great hotel and close to the poker room.....

I had a normal room which was huge and my friends had the rialto suite because there were a lot of them. The bathroom was basically the same size as mine and the rialto suite just had a lot of wasted space like a huge entry way. So you get the square footage but all of the extra square feet is almost unuseable. There couch was the same as mine as well. So unless you like a lot of walking space just get the cheaper room. Saying that both rooms had fantastic bathrooms, flat screens(generic brands), and nice sunken living rooms. The pool is nice and the grand luxe cafe is right out the elevators and has late night food. Bouchon was great and the modern upscale mexican in the palazzo was good. I got my room on priceline for a lot less by naming my own price, sticking with the 5 star option and north strip. Internet was free in lobby and by pool but not in rooms.

I made a reservation for a non smoking room. They put me in a smoking room and said it was "smoking optional." There is no such thing as "smoking optional." There is smoking or non smoking. A non smoker can't stay in a smoking room.

They advised me they didn't have any clean non smoking rooms. I find it hard to believe a hotel of 5000 rooms has this problem. They said they would ionize the room, but I had to call 4 times and wait 6 hours to get it ionized. I finally had a room to sleep in at 4:00 AM. At 9:00 Am the next day i asked to check out and I didn't want to pay for the night. They said the check in time of 4:00 Pm was just "a guide."

So I said, "Are you telling me that it's perfectly reasonable and normal to check a guest in to a room at 4:00 AM at a five star hotel?" They agreed to deduct $75 from the room after not having a good answer to that question.

I've decided I'm going to stay in 3 star hotels from now on. I don't need 24 hour room service. I don't need a huge check in line. I don't need the Shoppes and other b.s. that makes this place unique.

They should have just apologized to me for terrible service instead of defending themselves. Oh, they also wanted to charge me an early check out fee of $75 because I didn't want to continue staying in a smoking room. The front desk staff really needs some work.

I will try the Luxor, Bellagio, and others next time just to see if other places care about service a little more.

High speed internet is $9.95 per night. I find it interesting I can get Internet for free at 2 star hotels, but my five star room charges for it--truly insane.

Great place to stay, rooms are very well decorated and large in size. The location of the hotel was close to shopping, etc. Would definitely stay there again. One small thing that wasn't working in our room was the tv in the bathroom and we did ask to have it fixed but they never got around to it.

We went to Las Vegas to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday. We chose the Venetian due to the large suites, expecting excellent service from this high-end hotel. Our room was a Rialto suite with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa bed.

Upon check-in, we requested to have the sofa bed made-up in the evening while we were out. We arrived back at room around 1:00 am to find that the bed was not ready. I called the front desk to request that someone come up to our room immediately to provide the linens and make-up the bed. About 30 minutes passed, and a man arrived carrying a single pillow; no blankets or sheets, just one pillow.

I called downstairs again to ask if they were serious when they sent someone to our room with one pillow, when I requested to have the pull out sofa bed made-up. The response from the front desk was, "Yes, ma'am. One person brings the pillow, and someone else brings the bedding." At this point, we were all tired and ready to go to sleep, so we moved the furniture and pulled the bed out ourselves. We took pillows and the extra blankets from the queen beds and made-up the pullout as best we could with what we had.

An hour later, we were woken up by someone BEATING on our door and attempting to force their way in with the security closure in place. Then we heard the individual on his radio telling someone that we locked him out. I immediately went to the door and opened it to explain that we no longer needed his services, as we made the bed ourselves since 90 minutes had passed since I called downstairs. The individual proceeded to talk back to me telling me I was lying about calling that long ago, and he had just received this request ten minutes ago.

The next morning, we went to the front desk to speak with a manager about our experience. The front desk clerk and the manager on duty both seemed genuinely surprised by the terrible service and the behavior of their staff. The manager comped the lunch we had at the poolside restaurant the day before, which amounted to about $80. He also assured us this would not happen again, and asked what time we wanted the bed made-up that evening. We requested the time of 7:30 pm because we had tickets for a show and knew we'd be out of the room. We also requested a comforter for the 3rd bed, like the ones we had for the two queen beds. The manager assured us this would be taken care of at the requested time.

We arrived back at our room just before midnight to freshen-up before going back out to do a little gambling. The bed was NOT made-up. There was NO COMFORTER in sight. I called the front desk to request the services AGAIN, and was told that they do not provide comforters for the pull-out; they only provide blankets. I found it odd that the manager neglected to tell us this when we requested the comforter earlier that day. I asked that two blankets be provided ASAP, as we were not going to go through the same situation again this evening.

I have stayed at other hotels on the strip (MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood, The Bellagio), and had a much better experience at every other hotel. I would NOT return to the Venetian again - rather I'd choose The Bellagio the next time I am in the market for a high-end hotel.
