I have stayed away from Edgewater for almost 15 years after trying to eat their horrible buffet. Couldnt even go into the casino it brought that bad of memories. I guess times have changed. We needing a good dinner, we heard about the Hickory Pit three times so I sucked it up and entered the casino that holds the Buffet from hell. We made sure we got there for the early bird special of about $13 a plate (b4 6 pm). The soup with the cart coming around with items like sour cream was tops. Meat and veggies were great. We finally found a spot in laid back Laughlin that has a great restuarant. Who knows, maybe I will try their buffet again. After 15 years, they might have put out edible food.

Have eaten at the Hickory Pit several times and each time it is excellent. Take advantage of the early diner's specials with great entrees offered before 6 pm. Prices more than reasonable even during regular dinner hours and service and atmosphere comfortable and attentive most of the time.

After travelling thru California from san fran to los angeles, we arrived at Laughlin .The hotel room was average , the casino quite good but the meal at the hickory pit was a culinary highlight . My wife had a seafood pasta & I had a great steak , all served with great reverence and style without being over pretentious (a restaurant in pismo beach comes to mind).
The price was incredibly cheap for the standard of the meal and service.
More to spend in the casino !!
