We just returned from our 3-day Laughlin-Grand Canyon trip today. On the first day of our trip, we drove from Los Angeles to Lauglin and stayed in Golden Nugget for one night.

The hotel was located by the Colorado river and the size of the hotel was relatively small as compared to the other hotels around there. The appearance of the hotel was beautiful and well-maintained.

We checked in around 5pm and went to our room. The room was well-decorated and very clean. We selected a king-bed room and there were two chairs, a table, a dresser, and a TV. My husband seemed to be enjoying watching on a cable basketball game. The bathroom was medium size and it was very clean, as well. The amenities in the bathroom included towels, glasses, shampoos, etc.

On the next day, we woke up early and went to a pool on the first floor. The pool was located just next to the colorado river and we could see the river from the pool. The size of the pool is relatively small, but, it is very clean and there was a friendly staff. There were plenty of chairs for the customers to relax and read books while enjoying the view of the Colorado river. I felt very refreshed after spending some time there.

Overall, my husband and I had a great time at Golden Nugget, Laughlin :)

We have just returned from three nights at the Nugget. Staff was friendly and check in and out was quick. The Saltgrass Steak House was excellent and prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. Good location. We would stay at the Nugget again.

The Golden Nugget was a very nice surprise. As a frequent traveler this was our first stay in Laughlin. The Hotel in general has a very clean atmosphere. Tropical like the Mirage in Las Vegas. We were not able to Enjoy Joe's Crab Shack do to a wedding party who had it booked, so we ate at Harlow's. Good sized portions just basic food fare nothing fancy. The check in was a breeze the check out the same. The room was large, clean and had nice ammenities, the sound however from the APE in the above was LOUD, heavy feet and moving furniture around at 2:00 a.m., I figure he dropped a lucky nickle or something... and the parking garage which is right across the way was at times loud as well. All in all it was a pleasant stay, I would go back without hesitation.

I greatly enjoyed my stay at The Golden Nugget in Laughlin. This was my second trip to Laughlin, and I enjoyed my stay much more than I had at the cheap and generic River Palms casino.

First off the GN has a covered parking structure that is easy to get in and out of, it is easy to find a decent parking spot close to the elevator, and the elevator takes you directly from the parking garage to the inside of the casino. From there it is a very short walk to the registration desk, and from the registration desk it is a very short walk to the room elevator. Fast, easy, convenient, you know, the way it should be.

The Golden Nugget is a relatively small hotel/casino, which I think improves the quality of customer service. Checking in took about 5 minutes on a busy Friday afternoon. Check out took about 3 minutes on Sunday morning.

The room quality was excellent. Our room and bathroom were very clean. Our non-smoking room did not smell like smoke at all. The king sized bed was quite comfortable. Rooms include coffee makers with free coffee, and hair dryers in the bathroom. There is also a fully stocked Honor Basket, similar to a mini bar in each room.

The basket had two large bottles of water, two muffins, Famous Amos and Mini-Oreo cookies, a small bag of beef jerky, cheese & crackers, assorted nuts, orange juice, snack mix, and Golden Nugget slippers. The prices were not outrageous for any of these items, probably the same you would pay in the gift shop.

We had a tower room facing the parking garage. We didn't not notice any noise from adjoining rooms. I did notice occasional noise from the parking garage, but it was not a big issue. The television has about 25 basic cable channels, and the usual pay per view options. Video check out was not available. Rooms are tastefully done with three framed pictures decorating the walls.

The bathroom has a long marble countertop and nice stainless steal fixtures. No problems with the toilet. Shower pressure was adequate, not great. Shower/tub combo with a shower curtain, standard motel type shower. Apparently our bath drained slowly when the stopper was pulled up (when it's not supposed to), and also drained slowly when the stopper was pushed down as well.

The casino itself is great looking and was quite busy during our stay. The tropical themed entrance atrium area reminded me of The Mirage in Las Vegas, with real Palm Trees and a small waterfall. The gaming tables though few looked very new and clean, with blackjack table limits as low as $5.

Most of the eateries in the GN were brand new. Harlows is a great looking cafe, Tarzans is a sports bar that doubles as a nightclub (the place was rocking on both Friday and Saturday nights after 10pm for the young/attractive crowd), Salt Grass (steakhouse) and Joe's Crab Shack are fairly new as well. Joe's Crab Shack has limited seating on the river side of the River Walk area.

While at the GN we only ate at The Deli, not to say that the restaurants didn't look great from the outside but I cannot vouch for the food or service. I can say that the sandwiches from The Deli were large and delicious and reasonably priced. The place is quite popular so be prepared to stand in line.

The Golden Nugget has a fairly good location in Laughlin. It is a short walk to the River Walk area, from which you can easily access the Pioneer, for cheap drinks in a souvenir boot in the bar overlooking the river, or the Colorado Belle, which has a good variety of reasonably priced restaurants. There is also a river taxi right outside the door that can take you to Harrah's or Don Laughlin's Riverside at the extreme ends of town, I believe the rate is $4 one way per person.

I personally love the Boiler Room at Colorado Belle, which has a 16oz T-Bone Steak, 16oz microbrew beer, plus choice of potato and a dinner salad all for $11.99. Other dining recommendations are the $9.99 Saturday/Sunday Champagne Brunch buffet at the Ramada Express, good variety of well prepared food to go with the cheap champage or wine. The Ramada Express coffee shop also does a very good breakfast (would have eaten at Harlow's Sunday morning but they were doing a Sunday Brunch which was $20+ per person).

Most people believe that the Golden Nugget and Harrah's are the best hotel/casinos in Laughlin, and while I've never stayed at Harrah's I've played there and seen a concert there. I can't vouch for the room quality at Harrah's, but I know that at GN they have about 300 rooms total, while at Harrah's they have three gigantic towers. Also the Harrah's location is very far away from the other casinos. I personally prefer the smaller more intimate setting. I also believe GN is on average more reasonably priced than Harrah's.

If you are planning a trip to Laughlin I cannot recommend the Golden Nugget highly enough.

We just returned from our one-night trip from Laughlin. It was my first time visiting there and really enjoyed it. Different from Vegas, Laughlin hotels/ casinos are by the river which give a very scenic view. The river walk connects hotels and is very plasent and romantic to walk on.

We stayed at the Golden Nugget for its good reviews. The ROOM WAS NICE AND NEAT AND WAS VERY CLEAN. Comfertable pillows and bed and nice furnishing. AC worked well, but had hard time to open the window. We paid extra $20 to upgrade to a room with a view in the East Tower. If avaliable, try to get a room on the 4th floor (the top floor) and futher down the hall (401 is right next to the elevator), starting with 409 should give you a full river view instead of part of the view being blocked by the building. The room had BAD SOUND PROOF, we could clearly hear people talking in both adjusting rooms, and because we stayed at the 3rd floor, so upstair's food steps are loud and clear. Remember to bring your ear plugs! The BATHROOM WAS JUST AVERAGE, looked like apartment bathrooms but kept clean. The shower pressure is not too strong. It had coffee makers, hair dryer provided.

The Casino was very small. They had only about 10 or 12 tabel games. A lot of slots tho. Being a tabel game player, it is kind of disappionting. Staff there will greet you but you can feel that they are not too enthusiastic. We went to Harrah's later that night, which the staff there were extremely friendly. From the Steak house to the casino floor you can tell that those people really enjoy working there and they really welcome your business. I would go gamble at Harrah's instead of Golden Nugget.

Overall, it was a very good deal with it's price, and the good thing is that with the upgrade price, you are guaranteed for a river view room, which not too many hotel can do that.
