I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Wildcat. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys staying at a friendly, lively establishment with a great restaurant and a tavern that features live music and multiple large screen TVs for watching the game. The service was delightful, the room was very clean and well maintained and the food was excellent! We would definitely stay again and look forward to the opportunity. Many thanks to Stew and all the staff at the Wildcat for making our trip very memorable.

We stayed at the Inn for a ski weekend in January 2008. As other posters have noted, this is an old house so every floor squeeks and every door creaks. That wouldn't have been so bad, but the rooms are located either right on top of, or up the stairs from, the Tavern. From the time the lifts close to the time the Taven closes, the place is filled with loud people and even louder mediocre entertainment, including one person who is billed as the "Jimmy Buffet of Cape Cod" (like this is supposed to be something to brag about). If you try to drown out the noise buy watching TV, you're out of luck. The Inn does not offer cable, instead each room has a 12" TV/VCR combo. The one in our room didn't work and ate two of the tapes from the "large tape library" of about 30 movies. Following a sleepless night, the result of two people trying to sleep in a TWIN SIZE bed (the standard bed in most rooms), we we're both looking forward to a hot awakening shower. We kept looking for a long time because if you want to take a shower during prime morning time (7:00 to 8:00) you're out of luck. The water temperature fluctuated with every toilet flush, faucet turn, and shower adjustment made in other rooms. Finally the water in the hot water tank must have run out because our shower produced nothing but cold water for 15 minutes straight despite being on the "hot" setting. We found out the hard way that the Tavern is a popular apres-ski hangout when we attempted to eat there one night after skiing. The kitchen was so busy that they stopped taking orders until they could catch up with demand. As such, we were told that it would be at least an hour until they started taking food orders. The $50 gift certificate we received for Christmas was useless and the restaurant manger was rude and obnoxious regarding the entire situation. (BTW, the Red Fox on Route 16, about a five minute walk from the Inn, has excellent food and wonderful service.) I can't say we experienced the heater problems other posters mentioned because we used the portable heater that was in our room and not the cast iron radiators. While the dining room manager was a _itch, the morning staff (a very lovely lady and her equally lovely daughter) were extremely pleasant and outgoing - the type of people you would expect to find running an Inn, but alas, they too were just employees (hired to set up the morning coffee and pastries) and could hardly be held responsible for the far less than ideal conditions found at this establishment.

“Not just the radiators make noise, so does housekeeping and guests !!”

This is probably my hardest review to write, as we were checked in, we were told that the radiators made noise. O.K., we were used to that considering that we both grew up in old homes. THAT was not the problem. We decided to stay over Christmas week and thought it should be quiet (guest wise). Well,,,,,,,,,,,,, NO. Every morning at about 7:30 the guest across the hall left his room and let the door slam. He would be in and out without exaggeration about 6 times until they would finally leave at 10:00 AM. Other guests stormed up and down the stairs in the old house. It was incredible, you could hear everything. Housekeeping stomped around also and was very loud when talking to guests. It seemed to us that most people now have such crazy agendas that as Americans we don't sleep in anymore. Also what is this trend with other guests to make as much noise outside of other peoples rooms without any consideration that the people in those rooms want to sleep in.
It was absolutely crazy. However, the tavern is great, but be warned that the spots in front of the two fireplaces are prime real estate. If you sit there be prepared to be eye balled constantly for your move to leave. I wonder if these people would jump in my grave as fast. We also were told by other guests that after the last lift stops running for the day, the tavern becomes packed with families that let the kids run around like crazy.
The rooms are clean and the food is great! Get to know Carrie (the Bar Manager), Zach and Raine and the rest of the crew. They are all fantastic !! The house is beautiful and cozy. Jackson is a gem. I apologize to any of the crew if I spelled your name wrong. Anyway, without rambling on.....please whatever you do, make sure you stand your ground and tell the other guests and housekeeping to respect the old house and calm down. Jeez, don't you all know that this is an election year ! I We need as much peace and quiet where we can find it. As for the previous poster.....WHAT NO CABLE?.......... GOOD....now go read a book.

My husband and I had high hopes for this Inn after looking at their website and reading all the reviews on Tripadvisor … however, the experience proved to be a huge disappointment. We enjoyed our ski trip at Wildcat Mountain and are planning to return to Jackson, NH next year but will certainly look for a new accommodation.
The positives: The bed was comfortable, clean sheets and towels. The tavern is great! Huge beer selection, friendly service, delicious appetizers, and great live musicians.
The negatives: When we checked in we were told that the Inn is old and the heater makes a slight noise, but it woke us up both nights. The radiators do not just make a slight hissing noise, but they made a loud bang. The pluming is also old that every time the person in the room next door flushed a toilet or took a shower we could hear it directly above our heads. The staff was not friendly – their restaurant was fully booked for an evening and they could not even recommend another place, but offered us a phone book instead. There is a 10 inch TV / VCR in the room, but no cable. Bottom line is that if you are looking to drink some beer and walk upstairs to sleep then this is an OK choice. We are not coming back.

“A comfortable weekend”

My Fiancé and I stayed at the Wildcat Inn the weekend of Nov 9th. We drove down from Montréal on the Friday night and arrived around 10pm. On their website they say that check in is until 7pm but they had everything prepared for us, since we informed them that we would be arriving around 10pm.

The staff there were all super nice and welcoming and would bend over backwards to help you out.

The we booked a suite and it was nice to have the extra room to be able to sit on the couch and relax while watching a movie before dinner time. The view we had was very nice overlooking the mountains.

The only bad thing that we had occur was out heater. As this is a very old inn they heat with water radiators. The one in our bedroom may have had something wrong with it. It made a very loud hissing sound on and off both nights we were there. As we didn't want to bother switching rooms since the rest of the room was very nice we decided to live with it.

They had a restaurant onsite also but we did not decide to eat there. The Inn is about a 15-20 minute drive to all the outlet shopping in North Conway. Which we took advantage of.

This was our first experience staying in a small Inn type hotel. We usually stay in the chain hotels. We quite enjoyed it and would definitely go back.

Thanks Wildcat Inn
