“Best feature is the Tavern in the basement”

We skipped the collossal Mount Washington Hotel to stay at this much smaller Inn. We liked the homy feel and food, and enjoyed the live music and company of fellow travellers in the Tavern. Depending on when you go, this could be hit or miss, lots of easily changable factors that could make this awesome or awful. We got lucky, hope you do too.

There isn't much by way of a town here, you can walk it all of 20 minutes, only one or two shops and other Inns. You have to drive to see anything. There is a very nearby golf course, and many of those famous covered bridges.

We stopped here on our 3rd night of a 6 night road trip. We liked it so much that we decided to stay an extra night. The place was a mix between a B&B and an Inn. It was decorated in antiques and period furniture. The rooms used Company Store bedding and were SPOTLESS!! The innkeepers were so helpful and nice. It was a nice place to stay if you want to see North Conway, the mountains and the Jackson Falls. The price was great for the quality of stay.
On the last night, we decided to eat in the restaurant and were not too pleased. It was a bit pricey and not too many options on the menu. We also attended Hoot Night, which was fun. We had a little problem with our waiter who messed up our drink order and then charged us for it! It would normally not be a problem, but we stayed for 2 nights, just had a $150 dinner there and it was a $12 difference...the bartender did give us a credit after I expressed my upset

“Comfortable stay...”

We booked this particular inn mainly because of its close proximity to Mt. Washington. We checked out the website and it looked like a nice place to stay. So we booked one of their average rooms.

The room looked like the most cozy, comfortable room we have seen in a long time. The bed and pillows were incredibly soft, the sheets and feather comforter all smelled like fresh, clean laundry. There was an oversized chair in the corner, near a small t.v., that was perfect for reading. There were lots of windows, most that looked out over the backyard. It was pretty hot when we arrived but there was an air conditioner in the room that worked really well.

The bathroom was very nice. Great water pressure in the shower and great bath products given--Aveda and Bath and Body Works. The towels were large, fluffy, and soft--not those thin and scratchy kind you usually get a hotel.

Yes, some mold in the shower near the shower head like the previous review stated. There was also an obvious slant in the floor where the house was settling but none of these things bothered us. We've lived in lots of old houses and this is the way it is. We found that it added character.

The night that we stayed was Hoot Night downstairs in the tavern. We ate dinner down there before it started--great burgers and beer. We could hear the music in our room after they started--this may bother some people. I was still able to fall asleep with no problem. My husband said he could hear people yelling in the middle of the night.

In the morning, fresh coffee was waiting for us, which was VERY good. The lady who checked us out brought out some homemade raisin bread that had just been taken out of the oven--yum!

“Great get-away!”

Wildcat Inn & Tavern

My boyfriend and I visited the Wildcat Inn and Tavern this weekend as a get-away and to celebrate our anniversary. We had selected Jackson due to its proximity to great hiking in the White Mountains and to avoid the outlets in the Conway/North Conway area. We were very pleased with our choice! Unfortunately, it rained most of the weekend but we got in a nice hike in Jackson and enjoyed resting and relaxing at the Inn. We had a wonderful meal at the Inn's dining room and the most amazing carrot ginger muffins were waiting for us for breakfast. We didn't go to the Tavern, but there was live music playing and it looked inviting. (And, we could NOT hear the music in our room, which was a plus!) Terry, the inn keeper, was fabulous. She pointed us to the Jackson deli for a delicious and healthy lunch, to local hiking areas, and recommended our entrees which we enjoyed! Now, while I rate our stay 5 stars, I will explain that we had no problems with our stay. It was quiet because it was a very quiet weekend at the inn. I can imagine with many guests, you could hear your neighbors. It is an older inn so the floors creak a bit and the rooms are close together. There was also some mold in the bathroom, which we chose to overlook. So, I imagine you probably could find more luxurious accommodations, but for the price, comfortable and nicely decorated accommodations, and hospitality, I would definitely recommend the Wildcat Inn and Tavern. Jackson was also a lovely, quaint town near amazing NH hikes! At the very least, try their restaurant. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did.

“Nice getaway”

We just returned from a last minute weekend getaway at the Wildcat Inn. I booked them through bedandbreakfast.com since there wasn't a 3 night minimum like other places.
We arrived on a Saturday and we warmly greeted by Terry (I'm pretty sure that is what her name was!). She was expecting us the night before, but everything worked out OK.
She showed us to our room, which was lovely. We had suite 203. We walked in to a sitting area with a loveseat and small TV. There was a separate bedroom with a full bed, and a bathroom. She warned us about the heating system. Since the inn was old (which adds to the charm), the radiator heat can get noisy. We had a "hissing" room, but could still hear the clanging.
The beds were very comfortable, and the down comforters kept us very warm at night.
We had dinner in the restaurant that night. Casual dress with upscale food and service. We had a $100 meal in our sweats! The food was delicous and the service was great.
Saturday was packed in the Tavern. They had a band playing "apres' ski" from 4:30-6:30. The place was so jam-packed, it was standing room only! We came back about an hour before the band was set to start again at 8:30, and easily got a table. They serve casual fare in the Tavern, but offer the same delicious desserts as the restaurant.
If you're looking for a quiet place to be, then this is not your place, but it is a fun place to be. Our room was in the corner, the furthest away from the tavern. We couldn't hear the music, but could hear the kitchen staff and the occasional rowdy table in the dining room, which was just below us.
In the morning, there is coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, and the pastry of the day. I believe there are warm drinks in the afternoon as well.
