#1 in Jackson? Wow, I find that hard to believe. We had many issues last week, this was our 2nd stay at the place. 1)) Wifi was unreliable, we couldn't get online with 1 of our 2 computers, thankfully there was a computer downstairs, but it was basic, no adobe loaded, so if an attachment to an email was pdf, well, you were stuck, couldnt' open it. 2) Exterior maintenance definitely hurting, lots of chipping paint, damaged siding. 3) Lousy welcome, we showed up at 2:50, greeted by a sign saying "can't accomodate early checkings before 3PM", stood and waited while the one person around took care of a phone call selling the lodge to someone for its cross country trails....obviously a sales call for the winter season, and we stood and waited....after about 7 minutes, someone else showed up, didn't know how to check us in, but was at least recognizing that we were there. 4) Don't eat the cookies--Yes, they are wonderful, but there is a sign attached, "don't eat more than one cookie"...Wow, then just make them lousy, or don't offer them at all....The note on the jar complains about the fact they have to make 75 cookies a day, so don't eat more than one! 5) Then, there is the note posted saying that "unlike other Jackson lodges, they like children" and then a long litany of "don'ts" for your rambunctious kiddies. Well, I thought the note very negative, derogatory of the other town establishments, and unnecessary. FYI, we go up to Jackson 4 times a summer, we've stayed at lots of places, and I found the Lodge the worst of them all, after this stay, we won't be back. The place just had a very unwelcoming feel, it was like they had just gotten totally burned out, and couldn't stand another day of running the hotel, the front staff was very cold, the various signs very negative. I hated the place. I've stayed at Eagle Mountain, Wentworth, and the Inn at Jackson, all FAR superior to this place, and more reasonable in cost.

We stayed here for six nights while x-country skiing in the area in January. I would definetely recommend this place. We had a room on the river side with balacony which was very pleasant. The continental breakfast were great and hot tub much enjoyed after skiing. It has a feel more intimate than a chain hotel, but not so small as a b&b. I think we paid about $130 per night in Jan and that included trail passes to a local x-country skii area (but not Jackson).

We decided at the last minute to take our sons to Storyland and we able to book same day reservations at the Lodge at Jackson Village. A friend had stayed at this property previously and had a good stay and ours was quite the same. The positives, as also stated by other reviewers, the lodge was very convenient to Storyland, just a few minutes up the road. The morning breakfast was wonderful, home baked goodies like cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, cereal and waffles which my young sons liked. There was a nice sitting area next to the lobby where we had breakfast and my sons played a game of chess. There was an adjacent small pool and tennis court we got to use. The person on staff when we checked in was helpful with dinner suggestions, we went to the Red Parka, a steakhouse that has been in Glen for many years and had a good meal with a fine children's menu.
The only negatives was that the first room we checked into had problems with the shower so we had to switch rooms. The second room had a few cleaning issues but it could of been because they had not expected to have it in use. The issues were minor, like trash not totally cleared from a basket and the referigerator was unplugged so we had to throw leftovers we had hoped to save for the next day, out. We did mention this to the owners the next day but they made no comment which was a little surprising. All in all, the rooms at this lodge were large and basic but very well kept up. I thought the price was high at $175 but it was the height of the summer season. It fit our needs however and I wouldn't have a problem recommending this lodge to others or returning.

Four couples, including my husband and myself, did a New England tour and were at The Lodge at Jackson Village near the end of our trip. It was by far the largest, nicest and most welcoming accommodations on our trip. The setting is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'd all love to come back and stay there again!

“Beautiful, quaint lodge”

Lodge at Jackson Village

5 Jul 2008

Not having been to New Hampshire, my husband and I didn't know what to expect. We were very pleased when we saw where we were staying and the location. It's located close to hiking trails, restaurants, and rivers for kayaking.
Our room was comfortable and clean. In back of our room was a beautiful lawn, garden, and creek with a table and chairs on our private patio to enjoy it. There was also a hummingbird feeder hanging on the patio.
A continental breakfast is included and there was always a home baked item made by Cathi, one of the owners.
The lodge has 35 rooms yet has the feel of a B&B. The owners, Cathi and Dana Belcher, are gracious, accommodating, and will make you feel welcome.
