My husband and I just returned from a last minute one night stay at this beautiful hotel. First and foremost I will say in 24 hours we never left this property. If you are looking for a 24 marriage survival get-a-way, this is the place.

We arrived at 10:30 a.m., were able to check-in immediately. We had a room in the back of the property overlooking the water. The room was spotless and rather roomy. We did check into a room in the main inn, but found it rather small so we were switched to a room in the addition which was built onto the main hotel. Much more modern, but if you like the feeling of an older building with unique doors, peaks, etc. you will like the older rooms. Bed was beyond comfortable and the bathroom very roomy.

We spent our entire day at the outside pool which is a short walk across the street. The lounges were so comfortable with thick cushions. The service absolutely wonderful and I cannot rave enough about the food at Latitudes. It should also be noted that due to the rather upscale pool area, people were very considerate if they had children and made sure screaming and yelling were kept to a low minimum.

We also had dinner at Latitudes on the deck overlooking the water. Although our server was not really on the ball, the food was once again wonderful.

They had a piano/singer in the lounge which was nice, although here is where the screaming children popped up. A few were found sleeping on the couches which was a little odd. Not something one would expect at 9:30 at night in an adult atmosphere.

We did not have a chance to try the Spa but I did hear many positive comments from other guests. We will most definitely be returning to this beautiful property in the future.

“Married here 7/1/06, stayed in the Marina Suite”

My stay at the Wentworth was from 6/30 – 7/2. I was married there on 7/1 & we stayed in the Marina suite #2009. The suite was just amazing & the service was wonderful, everyone was very attentive to our needs. Trish DeSantis who was my group coordinator is worth mentioning here; she was by far the most professional, friendly, personable, genuine person I have met at the Wentworth. If you are getting married here, you are in good hands. The food & service was remarkable and the brunch the next day was out of this world! I would highly recommend the Wentworth to anyone & I can not wait to return.

“Poor management, housekeeping and maintenance”

This hotel would be fine for a family outing. It is a lovely location by the water and the townhouses by the marina are well-equipped. However, I would definitely avoid it for any business function where you want to please your clients! Here are five reasons why:

1. Stubborn, management-centered (not customer-centered) poliicies
We arrived at 2pm and were told our room was not ready. Turns out check-in time is 4pm (much too late for a customer-centered hotel). We waited two hours to finally get in our room at 4pm. Others in our party had to wait well beyond 4pm.

While I was waiting for my room to be ready, I thought I would see if I could move my spa appointment time up earlier. The spa desk was unmanned with a line of angry customers. The girl in the gift shop agreed to check the spa calendar on her computer. There were plenty of earlier openings but she was not allowed to switch my time since it would take money away from the beautician with whom they had originally scheduled me. The manager looked me straight in the eye and admitted she was more concerned with the beauticians income than serving a customer's needs.

2. Sloppy Housekeeping
When we finally got into our room there were several huge flies buzzing around, dirty laundry on top of the washing machine, a beeping noise, and the smell of mold and dust. I asked housekeeping for a fly swatter and was cheerfully told they didn't have any; nor did they make eny effort to kill the flies that tormented us for 3 days. However, they did apologize for the dirty laundry and dishwasher door that was not closed (causing the beeping).

3. Sloppy Maintenance
Clogged sink, broken phone, and broken blinds. I didn't bother to call at this point.

4. Sloppy Contruction and Design
No mirrors in bedroom. No closet space or hangers (only a very small space inside a wardrobe). No soap or blow dryer in 2nd bathroom. No clock in 2nd bedroom. No kitchen trash can. Buckled, smelly carpet. Very slippery shower (marble floor). Kitchen drawer cannot open because it bangs into the refrigerator.

With a new manager this place could be so great! As is, it's a disappointment.

“Very nice hotel tucked away in a scenic area”

Wentworth by the Sea, A Marriott Hotel & Spa

I was really not knowing what to expect from this hotel after seeing the various reviews....but I had a really nice experience. Three of us stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The room was very nicely decorated and extremely clean. The bathroom was well above average with many extras. Our room looked out over the harbor, marina, and ocean not far away. The grounds of this hotel are impeccable - very beautifully manicured and maintained. The breakfast was very nice, as described by others, but the buffet area is really shoe-horned into a large closet type area that is very uncomfortable. Finally, I would agree with others that the service level is good, just not great. I did enjoy my stay here and would stay again.

we just returned from spending multiple nights at the Wentworth by the Sea and enjoyed the time immensely. We found the help to be of the highest caliber and was surprised to see the comments to the contrary.

Upon checking in we were up-graded to a lovely room with water views, however, prior to the upgrade we did refuse two other room offerings (one overlooked a roof!!!!!! ( but you could see the water if you cranked your neck to the right) therefore, it is advertised, 'water-view' - consumer beware - many of the rooms do NOT have a good location and when making the reservation be specific with your request. The term 'water view' is used loosely as you may be seeing the water thru the trees and over a roof if you turn at a certain angle. Since our room was lovely we have no complaint, however, if we were not upgraded we would have left rather than stare at a roof at these prices! We found the food enjoyable and ate most of our meals in the Tavern where you can order from the Tavern menu as well as the Main Dining Room's menu in casual attire.

The room and bathroom were a good size, the bathroom a simple tub, shower but very clean except for a bad stain on the bedroom rug. When we brought the stain to the attention of management they said the hotel has just been too busy to bring the rug cleaners in for repair. This hotel is extremely popular, especially this time of year with vacationing families and weddings. We were there on a Saturday when two weddings were scheduled, as well as a retirement party. It is not a place to go if you are looking for quiet, secluded times.

The hotel is obviously presenting itself as a family resort and children are everywhere this time of year; the hotel does not seem to put any restraints on their behavior. While in the Tavern at 10:00 PM children are dancing, yawning and sleeping at the table or sleeping in the arms of their parents. I think it would not be too extreme to limit the Tavern area to adults only; presently there is no area of the hotel off-limits to children of any age.

Also,we noticed quite a few dogs and had not realized this was a 'pet friendly' hotel. Once again, there are no restraints on where the dogs can wander on leash with their owners. They walk directly thru the lobby, thru the maze of people, and onto all the beautiful grass surrounding the hotel. I 'assumed' that certain rooms were designated for pets as is the case in most discerning hotels, to my dismay, and fortunately, I only found out this information on the day I was leaving as I may have left sooner.........ALL rooms are designated pet friendly!!!!!!!! In addition, it is not limited to only dogs, they have had cats and rabbits, as well!!!!!!!!! Quite frankly, I found this quite alarming - no where had I read that this was a 'pet friendly' hotel and that all sorts of four legged animals would be staying in all the rooms. Fortunately, I do not have allegies but anyone who had would probably have a problem at this hotel. I am an animal owner myself but I do not relish the thought that I have stayed in a hotel that has had as many animal inhabitants as human. One can't help but fear ticks and fleas, especially in the summer!

Since smoking is permitted in the hotel (in designated rooms) - there are designated rooms for the smoker but not for the animals!!!! ----interesting??????? we were unable to sit on the veranda as pipes and cigars were being used - Also, there is a beautiful lobby and, once again, no restraints with behavior - those who have been enjoying the swimming pool walk thru the lobby, dripping water on the floors, in their bathing suits to the elevators - mixing with those dressed in nice attire for luncheon, dinner, wedding, etc.....

So, how do I rate this hotel, we had a beautiful room, we enjoyed our meals -- loved the area BUT would hesitate to return- unless if was 'off' season AND I demanded that the room be fumigated for ticks or fleas!!!!! This place could be spectacular but someone in management needs to put some restrictions in place!
