If you're a B&B person, this will definately go on your favorites list. We regretably only booked for one night, 7/18/2008, and it was wonderful.

The Inn is immaculate, comfortable and a nice mix of victorian charm and modern amenities. The rooms are nicely appointed and give a sense of privacy. Common areas and the grounds are lovely, and a very comfortable TV room / lounge area is on the lower level. No TVs in the rooms. The Inn's location puts it just north of the North Conway hubbub and congestion, and in a beautifully senic yet convenient area.

The Inn's Host / Owners / Operators, Jessica and Bruce are very gracious and generous hosts. They are very pleasant to be around, not overbearing and very respectful of your privacy, but always readily available for any needs or questions. The Hosts have pleanty of self printed material available for scenic drive recommendations and area information. Jessica's
breakfasts are note worthy, delicious and very creative.

We had booked only one day in advance and took advantage of the Inn's "Last Minute Meal Deal" package, which included dinner at one of three area resturaunts. On Jessica's recommendation, we dined at the resturant next door to the Inn, and had an exceptional meal.

I can't say enough good things about the Cabernet Inn and it's Hosts. It's definately on the top of our favorites list. We'll be back.

“The gold standard for B&Bs. We love the Cabernet!”

The Cabernet Inn

9 Jun 2008

I've been remiss; we've stayed four times now at the Cabernet (and the stay we just got back from has been the longest - we spent the entire first week of June there) and I'm only now getting around to putting up a review - and they deserve every positive word that can be said about them! There isn't enough time or space to write about how wonderful the Cabernet is. It was our first B&B experience, and it's set the gold standard for any other we'll ever encounter.

Every time we've been to the Cabernet, we've been greeted and treated warmly and thoughtfully. Their level of service is impeccable - Bruce and Jess are exceptionally helpful, without hovering or being overbearing about it. Ask for recommendations on pretty much everything - from shops to food to hikes to where to ski or kayak; they've been on the money every time for us. Actually, just ask, whatever the question; they will find out for you, and be honest about it!

We've been in a different type of room each stay, and have experienced all four types - premium, jacuzzi, fireplace and standard. Every one is comfortable, and all the rooms are decorated tastefully and with whimsical touches (the 'stuffed guardians' of each room are adorable and have inspired stories); the beds are cozy (my fiancé has commented that if we weren't in danger of missing breakfast, he'd probably stay curled up in bed a lot longer), and everything is immaculate. Try the premium rooms if one's available - they are enormous, and beautiful, and the in-room jacuzzi is a romantic treat.

The breakfasts and snacks are an entire five-star review by themselves. This past week, I think I only ended up looking at the breakfast menu once, because the daily specials all sounded (and were!) so fantastic - Jess is a master chef; her passion is cooking, and it shows. The portions are enormous - I can skip lunch easily afterwards; if you're worried about them being too much, though, again, just ask - they're more than willing to do half orders. Also, if you have any food allergies or issues, let them know ahead of time; they'll accommodate! On the breakfast menu, the french toast and blueberry pancakes are to die for. And do not miss out on the maple walnut french toast if it comes up as the special. You'll kick yourself, seriously.

The common areas of the Inn are comfortable and inviting. The downstairs common room is an especially perfect place to rest after a long day, whether you're playing some of the provided games, watching a movie on the TV, getting to know your fellow guests, or curling up with a book by the fireplace.

We won't ever consider staying anywhere else in Mount Washington Valley. This is the definitive place for couples to go to rest, relax, and retreat from the chaos of life. We always come back refreshed, and look forward to our next stay.

We stayed at the Inn on April 12. This was my first experience in a B&B so we were unsure of what to expect. Walking in through the front door, the inn feels like you're walking into someone's home. It's very tastefully decorated in a contemporary yet countryish decor. We booked a premium room (#11), which had a jacuzzi and a fireplace. The room was immaculately clean and very tastefully decorated. The room was spacious with its own private entrance to the outside, and on the lower level away from the other rooms. We found the staff to be courteous and attentive during our short stay. Breakfast was delicious. This inn is perfect for couples who want to enjoy some alone time together. I would highly recommend one of the premium rooms. For $160/night including breakfast, I thought this was a great value for near-luxury accommodations. The rooms do not have televisions, however, so one should be aware of that and may want to plan on bringing a laptop or something for music or movies. We would return here in an instant.

We had an absolutley wonderful stay at the Cabernet Inn. The owners were so friendly. They were able to give me perfect recommendations for things in the area, and the breakfasts were unbelievable. I can't wait to go back.

“Had to comment about the Inn”

I had to comment about the Cabernet Inn even though I stayed there 3 years ago. It was the most wonderful stay I've ever had and I work for a 4 star luxury hotel. My husband and I want to go back so badly.

The service is amazing. We had a wonderful weekend stay because of Bruce and Jessica. We asked a million questions about restaurants and the the nearby slopes. Bruce answered every question and then some. He was a great source of information. Jessica's food in amazing. The stuffed french toast for breakfast is a recipe I've tried to repeat at home without success.

The rooms are so clean and beautiful. We had a smaller room but loved it. The shower was also a jacuzzi tub which I utillized. The room was comfortable and having your own personal bathroom is a huge blessing. The downstairs is great for watching TV or playing games by yourself or with other guests. We bought a bottle of wine and watched the Red Sox game with another couple and had a great time.

You cannot go wrong with this bed and breakfast. We have stayed at a few on Cape Cod and nothing compares to this one in NH. Just wonderful.
