We stayed here for 1 night on a family tour of New England and what a treat it was. It is well placed just off the main road of the town. The owner is very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The Inn is furnished as, I am guessing as an english person, a classic 1865 american inn and is almost overwhelmingly homely. It was a great experience. We had found booking our itinery that many inns in the area do not accept children so this was the regretably the only one we stayed in. The owners have gone to enormus trouble to ensure that everything possible if offered to make stay a comfortable one-cookies, drinks, board games, internet access. We ate up the road at Raffertys diner and I really felt like I was staying in the real America rather then as a tourist in a large town. It provided plain but excellent food and a good, cheap childrens menu.Unfortunately the weather was poor and we were unable to use the pool. it wasnt hot enough to use the air con so we had the windows open -being at the front of the house meant that it was very noisy. Only criticism really was that the bed was very uncomfortable! Breakfast was home cooked and very good indeed. Don't expect plush rooms and modern bathrooms but a great not to be missed experience.
