Do not stay here, you will be very disappointed. The Cranmore Inn came highly recommended by a friend who has stayed there in the past, so I was looking forward to our 2 day stay. What an eye opener on rudeness by the innkeepers.
It was very shabby and in sore need of repair &/or refurbishment. The innkeeper offered no assistance in helping bring our bags up to the 2nd floor. The stairrail was loose and dangerous, I don't know why they haven't been cited by an agency for a safety violation. The room was clean but looked worn out. The bathroom was so small it was tight moving about trying to shower or do other necessary things one does in a bathroom. We were given 2 bath towels and no hand towels or washcloths. The wall paper was peeling, and a very out of place picture hung akwardly over the sink, to cover a large hole in the wall. The room was cold, and we could not figure out how to start the heat (we're from Florida), when I went to the male innkeeper to ask for assistance, he rudely told me there was no way the room could be cold! I had to argue the issue with him, before he reluctantly went upstairs to our room, and adjusted the heat, and informed us that it might take a few minutes to start. It did but never really warmed the room. We were assigned a table at breakfast which I did not care for, because half the fun of staying at a B&B is meeting new people each morning at breakfast. The breakffast was heavy and greasy, and was served by staff who were rude. Rude seemed to be the way everyone who had anything to do with the Inn acted. I would never stay there again, nor would I recommend it to anyone, not even an enemy. The town of North Conway was lovely as was the foilage, it was a disappointment that the accomodations were so sorry.

“Great place to stay!”

Cranmore Inn

We have just returned from a trip to North Conway to see the autumn leaves change. We stayed at the Cranmore Inn. The inn is centrally located with shopping, hiking, skiing and people watching very near at hand.

We arrived mid-afternoon to tea and wonderful home-made apple squares. The staff were friendly and very attentive.

There was a fire burning in the large, antique-filled living room every evening of our stay. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast was tasty and hardy. Exactly what an authentic New England Inn should be.

Great place to stay!

“An Omelet to Die For”

Cranmore Inn

We stayed at Cranmore Inn for skiing and for tennis camp. We were thrilled with the charming inn and the delicious breakfasts. One memorable breakfast included an oven baked pan omelet. We have never tasted any omelet before or since that could compare with this light, fluffy treat. The Inn is clean and friendly. The innkeepers encourage guests to get together in the evening for conversation and board games. Collections of pictures and furniture transport guests to a peaceful, past, genteel era.

This is our 4th year staying at the Cranmore Inn. We like it because it has a PRIVATE bath in the room. It is a very Historic Building and looks and feels like you would think for a building of its age except it has modern amenities to it. They have a computer downstairs from the rooms for guest to use and central air. The one thing I liked about it from day one was that there was the nice HUGE room with a fireplace to relax in with piano music playing softly. There are couches and chairs filling that room. The other room that is nice has a steel punched ceiling that is cool to look at. In this room there is a TV with a dvd/vcr hooked up with a lot of movies to watch. The rooms are all decorated to the period and my wife loves that part. The breakfast you get included is very good. You get choices of – juices, hot drinks, cereal, toast, fruit, eggs, pancakes, French toast etc. At night they put out Tea/Coffee/Hot Coco and homemade cookies. There are books and board games to use while you are there. My wife and I on this visit played Connect Four and also a trivia game. They have a main refridge that you can use. We got leftovers one night and kept it in the fridge and than used the micro the next day to heat it up. I think the staff is very nice, they keep to themselves unless you need them. Personally I do not want to be bothered on my vacation. We know NH very well so we do not need help as I have been going for over 30 yrs but at breakfast I can hear them giving out good advice on what to do and where to go. That is very helpful if you have never been before.

We stayed in numerous B & Bs and Inns throughout our 18 day trip to New England in Sept/early Oct and we are sorry to say that we were disappointed in Cranmore Inn. When we arrived the only welcome we received was from the sign displayed at the registration desk as the lady member of staff, who may have been the owner, did not entertain conversation initially or during our three day stay. The building may be 143 years old but it is sadly in need of general upgrading and maintenance but still retaining the ambience of the era. The paintwork is poor, discoloured and badly chipped and scuffs from luggage was not down to one season. We were surprised that the loose bannister has not been raised as a safety issue. In our bedroom the lined lampshade was torn both on the interior as well as the exterior and the base had jagged broken edges very close to the switch. Quite frankly the bathroom was terrible - wallboarding hanging off and the area was urgently in need of upgrading. The paper behind the wash-hand basin was discoloured and there was some sort of broken plastic fitment. We can only think this may have been a soap dispenser at one time and only the back remained held on by two screws. The toilet seat was wooden.............ugh!!! There was no space in the bathroom for a shelf or towel rail and indeed the towels were located on a rail screwed to the back of the bedroom door. We were supplied with 3 bath towels, no hand towels were evident and the only place that one could lay things down on was the top of the toilet seat! Whether or not it was the high season?weekend pricing, this Inn was most definitely bottom of the league compared to the others that we stayed in during our trip. The owners of previous establishments were not simply doing a job but were inviting us into their home, were glad to see us and took an interest in our wellbeing. Sadly, this was not the case at Cranmore Inn although Chris' directions to Newark on the day we left proved helpful. Sorry to be so critical but Cranmore Inn cannot have our recommendation.
