“Fine, will be better after this summer”

Best Western Red Jacket Mountain View Resort

We booked through expedia, about $150 a night for mountain view. For North Conway defenitely a "resort" style property set on a large piece of land, unlike most other hotels of the area. Check in and service was very friendly, we got a VCR/DVD player installed after we asked. Rooms and hotel are somewhat dated, but expected for a rural NH location. Fairly standard hotel room. Defenitely clean. The view was nice.

During the summer, coming with kids, I could see the hotel as ideal. Game room, pools, restos, and a lot of land would work. They are building this huge indoor water park and while the construction is inconvenient, I would go back here with my kids in the future. I'm sure without the construction (and when its finished) stays would be great, expecting the rooms to be what they are.

We had a nice time - the breakfast buffet Saturday morning was only $13 and great, don't miss it. If you're going to North Conway to shop you could probably stay cheaper elsewhere, but we were happy.

Thank you for your kind words. We do try to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Your right, hopefully by summer time we will have most of the kinks out of running the Kahuna Laguna Water Park. The room renovations will be finished too.

my wife and i went n.conway for some shopping. we made no reservations, hoping to find something when we got there.i picked up a travel guide at one of the stores.on my second phone call i found b.w. red jacket. the person i spoke to was pleasant and helpful she did inform me of the construction going
on but that was not a problem. the room was neat and clean but nothing fancy considering the price other than having to park the car at the opposite end of the building everything was great.

p.s. the sign on the new construction said completion dec. 2007
no way . maybe 2008

You were so right about the opening date of our water park. We opened Kahuna Laguna in February 2008. N Conway received record amount of snow in the winter of 2008. Happy to read you enjoyed your time with us. Parking is now easier and more accessible to resort entrance. Please stop in again if you find yourself in the N Conway area.

The Red Jacket Mountain View is a finely decorated, comfortable, family-friendly resort. The resort is in the process of building an indoor water park. The outdoor pool is great, and there is a large indoor pool as well. Our third floor mountain view room was recently renovated and was a large, lovely room. The tennis courts could use a sweeping. Breakfast is not included, which would be nice considering the nightly rate. The outdoor deck overlooking the mountains is a great place for reading or a drink. The 2-man band (humorous and accommodating) was entertaining.

With the new water park being built the indoor pool will be turned into a game room and the indoor pool will be a wave pool in the water park. The tennis courts are going away too.

The room renovations will be ongoing until completed.

“A great place to stay near Story Land!”

The hotel is classic New England in architecture (chair rails in the hallway etc) . Our room was on the first floor and it looked like it received a renovation on the inside (something to expect in an older hotel). Our room was clean, nicely furnished, and decorated. The lounge and breakfast area was very nicely decorated as well.

The hotel has an indoor pool that needs updating but works, is clean and is great for a rainy day or a night swim with the kids. On the outside of the hotel they are putting in a new outdoor pool area and building an indoor water park. The outdoor pool is scheduled to be complete in July 2007 and the water park is due to be complete in December 2007. My husband is a structural engineer and is very familiar with construction of buildings etc. And as for the fencing another reviewer mentioned its standard fencing used on construction sites and needs to be repositionable to accommodate the trucks or phases of construction. I can see how someone could be mad if they envisioned sitting by the pool to show up with a site of construction equipment. Something the management /booking agent should perhaps share with potential guests. Our purpose was to go to story land so having an outdoor pool was a non issue for us.

Our room was quiet and we didn't hear the ice machine on the other side of our wall nor did we hear much of the trucks during the day. Hopefully no one heard our 23mnth old during his tantrums! - Good times! : ) - My son also loved ogling at the trucks. The hotel was not busy during our stay but with the large number of rooms I can see how it can be a bit busy with many families during peak season. As kids will not sit like statues; Noise and kids go hand in hand. From what others have mentioned there is however no excuse for parents letting kids run up and down the halls.

For food at the hotel I wouldn’t recommend the breakfast buffet. The food at the breakfast buffet is OK but not spectacular for the price. I can’t comment on the dinners there because we didn’t eat at the hotel other than the one breakfast buffet we went to.

Overall I think the hotel was great. The food at breakfast was OK not bad but not raving great so I only gave three stars. I've stayed at Courtyard by Marriot on other vacations and preferred their breakfast buffet.

When the renovations are complete on the outside I could easily see giving the hotel five stars. If you’re looking for a relatively quiet get away with or with out the kids don't go during the peak season.

when i made the reservations i was told they had an outdoor pool andwhen i got there i was extremely disappointed to find MAJOR construction going on and no sign of a pool. there were construction vehicles everywhere and the construction was fully visible thru cheesy fencing that had been shoddily erected. the property looked rundown and everything was dusty (hopefully due to the construction). the only saving grace for this place was that we were allowed to use the outdoor pool at the FOX RIDGE RESORT which i guess is owned by the same company. the red jacket staff was less than friendly and i will not stay there again.

The Mountain View is currently building a 40,000 square-foot indoor water park at the resort. As part of the construction around this first-of-its-kind amenity in North Conway, we try to minimize potential inconveniences for our guests. We feature the construction of the water park prominently on our web site, our indoor pool is available - as is use of the outdoor pool at our nearby sister resort - and our staff are always on hand to address any guest concerns. Additionally, we have paused construction for July and August and will resume after Labor Day in order to complete the water park for our guests as soon as possible.

We regret any temporary disruption that some of our guests may experience during the creation of the water park. At the Mountain View we strive to provide the highest standard of service and an excellent guest experience, and part of this is keeping ahead of guest expectations. To that end, the water park - like our recent room renovations, the addition of our full-service spa, or our brand new, larger outdoor pool - is meant for our guests’ enjoyment.
