In April we spent a week travelling around New England staying at B&B's. Each was so individual that comparisons are unfair, but Buttonwood has to be a favourite. We received a genuinely warm welcome from Bill and Paula, who are attentive hosts without being intrusive. They were always available for advice or information but otherwise we were left in peace to enoy their lovely home. Early coffee was available and enjoyed, and afternoon tea and coffee was also laid out with home made cakes and biscuits. Paula is an excellent cook, waistlines beware! The house is in a quiet, rural setting while being only a stones throw from shops and a variety of eating places. Hiking trails start from the property if that is your need, but it is also convenient for major routes or local beauty spots. Being early in the year the outdoor pool was not relevant, but the grounds promised to be lovely in the summer when I imagine the pool would be blissful. Our room was cosy and had every facility, although I looked at the room with the jacuzzi and wished ...... The final delight was the tiny red squirrel who knew how to entertain right outside our window while we ate breakfast. He cannot be guaranteed of course, but Bill did almost promise hummingbirds in summer. I was very reluctant to leave, which is perhaps the best test of accommodation.
