My wife and I just had our second stay at the Wyatt House Country Inn, where we spent two nights, and had a wonderful time. This is a great place for a romantic getaway or as a home-base for sightseeing, shopping, or just plain relaxing.
The new innkeepers, Trish and Elaine, are warm, friendly and fun. They spoke at length with us about their plans for the Inn - how they plan to add their own style while retaining the country character of the Inn. They spoke of their love for the Mount Washington Valley area and of the positive experiences of running the Inn, from meeting and serving their guests to meeting and developing relationships with other local businesses and the surrounding community.
Breakfast was wonderful and casual, a satisfying start to the day. Refreshments such as fresh fruit and baked items, along with coffee and tea, are available all day and into the evening hours. We were even encouraged to use the kitchen for self-provided food and drink.
The Inn really does have a very cozy country atmosphere, and you might be fooled by its quaint and charming exterior. Once inside, however, you’ll see that in addition to its charm, there are many modern conveniences. Wireless internet access is available and most rooms have jacuzzis and/or fireplaces (gas, but still quite warm and lovely!), and at least half of them have spectacular views to the Saco River and White Mountains right behind the house! To see it all covered in snow is breathtaking; I chanced to wake up in the middle of the night to find the whole scene bathed in moonlight, which is eerily enchanting. We can’t wait to see the same vistas in autumn.
The Inn’s quiet location is only minutes from the village of North Conway, the ski resorts, the outlet shopping, and great shops and restaurants, but it’s still got enough separation from those things that you won’t feel like you’re in the middle of it all.
You might have read some of the early reviews from people that have had less-than-stellar experiences during a stay at the Inn. We can say from the experience of both of our visits to the Inn, under both previous and current owners, that you will NOT have any such unpleasantness under the current owners. This is a wonderful place that you will want to come back to again and again!
