We booked the family apartment a month in advance. What a mistake. We checked in and found the family apartments detached and around the block. Not to mention decaying and run down. No elevator, we had to carry all of our things up 3 flights of stairs to find we got stuck in a smoking apartment that smelled very bad.
It was filthy, the toilet was broken and the fan in the bathroom. We called to get another apartment for the night and they were sold out and the one we were in was to be oxygenated to remove the smell but we got stuck in it! We left and stayed somewhere else.

Let me preface this by saying, I travelled here with my husband and two small children to go to Storyland, and did not expect luxury at all. I just wanted something neat and clean and some degree of customer service. However, this hotel and the staff are sorely lacking. The pictures on the internet make it look much better than it really is. What it is is a "tired" place that looks like it needs some tlc. I could overlook that to an extent, but what's worse is the attitude of some of the staff. When we arrived, there was only one person working at the desk at check in so there was a long line. Yes, she was actually very nice, but no apology for the very long wait. Hello, put some more staff on at check in and check out. There was a long line at check out as well. The room was spacious but could have been cleaner. Very dark and somewhat dated. The toilet handle broke within a few hours. We called and they said they would send someone up. We said we were going to dinner and they said that was ok, they'd come right up even if we were gone. Got back from dinner 2.5 hours later, ready to put our kids to bed----no one had come to fix the toilet so we had to call again. The best was the next day though...we came back from being out and the room had been cleaned and one bed was made and one was not! Granted, we had mistakenly left a folded sweatshirt on the bed but still, never had that happen before. When we told the man at the front desk, he gave us an attitude and was argumentative with us and begrudgingly sent someone to make the bed. Indoor pool was WAY too hot to use. Outdoor pool was very clean I will say. It is very loud with Rte.16 traffic. The breakfast is not bad, but the chairs were filthy. The whole place just really started to skeeve me out. When we told the front desk at check in that we would never be back, they could not have cared less. There are way too many options in N Conway to stay at this place!!!

We've been going to the North Conway area every year for longer than I can remember, so we've stayed at a number of places, from little B&B inns to large hotels. We've found that the Green Granite gives you the most value for the money you spend. There's not much of a view from the hotel, unless you think the local Hannaford's is picturesque. But, in North Conway you just have to walk out onto the street and a beautiful view is everywhere.
We always get the suite, which includes a little kitchenette (sink, dishes, microwave, refrigerator, etc.). The rooms are quite large, with a king-sized bed in one room and a queen-sized pullout sofa in the other. The rooms are set up with doors in strategic places so that two couples could stay in the suite together and each couple would have plenty of room and privacy, as well as their own TV. This type of lodging could easily cost twice as much at many places in the area.
My only criticism is that, in their effort to keep costs down, they tend to do some things a little bit on the cheap. You wish they would just charge you a couple of bucks more and use a better grade of toilet tissue and a brighter than 40 watt bulb. And to say that the whirlpool tub is suitable for two people is really a stretch.
I'm not a fan of the continental breakfast, but theirs is the best I've experienced. They've improved it since last time we were there and it now includes scrambled eggs and sausages, as well as the usual muffins, bagels, toast, juice and cereal. It's now good enough so that we ate at the hotel every morning instead of going out to one of the local breakfast shops, of which there are several good ones.
All in all, if you're looking for a place to stay which is comfortable if not fancy, and which gives you you're money's worth when you stay there, you can't do much better than the Green Granite.

Indoor and outdoor were freezing cold.
Dirty rooms. Hotel staff were disinterested and barely spoke English.

“Not that clean but hotel personnel very nice”

We went to North Conway for Labor Day weekend.
When I book the room I asked for a non-smoking room with two queen beds in a quiet area (the back of the hotel not near route 16)
When I came to the hotel they gave me the key to our room, as soon as we step into the room a bad smell of cigarette was present in the room. That room could not have been a non-smoking room.
We went back to the check-in desk to request a room change. They gave us a mini-deluxe suite room. That room was non-smoking but I would not called it a deluxe room.
First of all the decoration at this hotel is bad. The wall paper is starting to come apart. The furniture is outdated.
The room was not that clean either, there was hair on the badroom floor, the air conditionning unit was covered of dust.
But the worse thing is that we were on the first floor and you could here the people walking in the room above us (on the second floor), we could hear their toilette flush too and for whatever reason the people staying above us went to the washroom lots of time during the night and they woke up early the next morning and kept walking in their room and you could hear the floor squeak, it became very annoying.

We were supposed to stay two nights at this hotel but we cancel the second night and the hotel personnel was very understanding and took note of the bad experience we had.
