Recently spent a night here on the way from Boston to Montreal as it's a nice place to break the journey and the surrounding scenery is truly stunning.
Check-in was prompt, although I should note that the first two rooms we were offered had not been made up.
Thrid time lucky however and the final room was excellent - spacious and clean with a large bed and a good bathroom plus lots of storage space.
The wine and cheese on arrival is a nice touch but the real winner is the breakfast and the views - great food with a mountain backdrop and if you're feeling adventurous, an outdoor terrace.
Parking is plentiful but is should be noted that there is no bar or restaurant so don't arrive late.
The resort itself is well laid out and efficient, if a little soul-less, but you can get some great food and drinks in the little town square.
Good fun during the ski season I'd imagine.

Caveat: we are Waterville Valley property owners (own a unit at the Black Bear Lodge, which we like very much)... this week, we needed to be in town for personal business, but our unit was rented. We called ahead and secured a room at the Silver Fox, which we had never visited before. We arrived late and were warmly received... found the room to be small but comfortably appointed and very well cared-for. After a good night's sleep, we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety offered at the free continental breakfast (much better than your average boxes-of-cereal). The hotel also provides free mountain bike rentals -- ideal for fun while you're staying in the Valley.

Because we were in town for business and needed to rush out, we asked the hotel staff if we could check out late; because they had no new check-ins for our room that day, they were most accomodating and allowed us a lot of latitude. More to the point, everyone on staff was very warm and extremely helpful.

We heartily recommend the Silver Fox Inn -- as others have pointed out, it's nothing like you'd expect from a chain hotel, and the staff were outstanding.

“Best Kept Secret”

Best Western Silver Fox Inn

This location is the best kept secret in the area. Although listed as a Best Western it has all the charm of any New England B&B. The lounge (with the free wine and cheese) was a great place to relax and read. THe service was great, the rooms were clean and the country breakfast which was included was fantastic. When in the area again will for sure stay at this great location....

“Feels like a bed and breakfast”

From the moment you enter the lobby, you get a feeling that this is not an ordinary chain hotel. Looking more like a lodge than a hotel, the Silver Fox sits surrounded by trees. You are immediately invited you to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and cheese in the cozy reception area. although the rooms are standard hotels rooms, the windows can be opened to the wonderful fresh mountain air. The hotel staff are masters at making you feel comfortable. The best surprise is the bountiful breakfast buffet featuring fresh fruit salad, homemade breads, 10 grain porridge, and fresh whole wheat sticky buns. The Silver Fox was the favorite stop on our week-long fall trip!

I just returned and I'm going to book another weekend really soon! For the price of about $100 I didn't expect any thing out of the ordianry, but this hotel has surprised me right at the entrence. The lobby is warm and welcoming, arranged in a way that invites you to sit down and relax. The room is clean, not very big but O.K. The real treat was the breakfast - Homemade fresh bakery (4 diffrent kinds) fresh fruit salad and more, the dining room very spacious, and alowes you to choose to sit out and enjoy the woods while you're eating. They also gave us passes to use the near by sports club (in/out pool, bike rental and boat rental). Did I also mention the kind and friendly attitude?
