We were looking for a ski holidaywithin driving distance of home, and decided on The Valley Inn because I had stayed here several times in the early to mid '80s when my kids were smaller. We traded in on timeshare points. I had been really nervous because I realized I had hit the choose button on a "deluxe studio" and it did NOT have any kitchen facilities. For a few weeks I was upset with myself. We drove up to a near empty parking lot. The desk attendant was very nice and when I asked about the accomodations, he said it had a kitchen and a bedroom! He had upgraded us because they had the space! First, I will say that everyone at the front desk was SO helpful. Housekeeping gave us fresh towels each day. Whatever we asked for they tried to accomodate. They brought in an extra lamp. Knowing we had a microwave and burners only, we somehow bought a pizza to bake in our oven(??), only remembering there was none as we walked in the door. The man in charge fired up the oven in the (unused) kitchen and let us bake it there. We hardly saw anyone around, although there were others in on Friday and Saturday nights for the weekend. In all it was very pleasant. Now, it was not a plush, full service inn. Our suite was nicely equipped with kitchenette, full fridge, 2 bathrooms, table and chairs, sofa and flat screen TV and DVD and CD players, and in the bedroom, nice king bed with a regular old TV in an armoire and loveseat and chair. Our master bath had 2 sinks, a glass shower with 2 heads. The second bath was VERY small, but had a toilet and a jacuzzi tub. The inn itself has no indoor pool anymore, and the outdoor pool is only working in the summer. The kitchen/restaurant is no longer, but may return at some point. There are two nice size lounges with comfortable furniture and fireplaces and a small library area with some books, puzzles and games. I believe there is a coin laundry. Now, I hate to put any negatives here, but here they are: bath towels small and well worn, don't look for any fancy toiletries- only some basic soap and shampoo; our suite looked a little as if the granite didn't match the cabinets and decor (maybe needed a woman's touch?); while the 2 shower heads were nice, I wished there was a soap dish so I didn't have to lay it down on the ledge near the base; I could really hear the people above us walking around at 2am, but I don't think they were really being loud; our living room needed a table lamp (which they brought us) but the ceiling lights were very bright; the most comfortable chair was in our bedroom- I should have moved it into the living room; kitchenette was ok for simple meals but I wouldn't do much cooking- had no WiNE OPENER! The resort area has a fitness center with exercise machines and indoor pool but none in the inn itself. They give you a card for free use. Now, no one comes here to sit in their room, so if you want a nice place to stay at Waterville Valley, I'd not hesitate to come here, especially if you like to bring your coffee and cereal for breakfast. I sincerely hope they can open up the restaurant some time in the future. We bought reduced fare ski tickets at the inn- GREAT bargain! And, the bed looked a little funky, as it had been fitted with poufy mattress covers (maybe the mattresses were giving out?) and the sheets didn't fit real well. BUT, the bed was SO COMFORTABLE and I slept extrememly well. I think The Valley Inn has regular rooms also, which we did not see, and larger units.
We liked our view of the mountain. We were in 208. Just down from the front desk.

I also agree with you that there are several things that we need to work on and we are addressing them as we see fit. I truly appreciate your very honest and candid remarks. They can only help us become a better hotel. I am pleased that we did have the time to tour the other suites and hotel units that we offer our guests. I think that we have something for everybody. I look forward to seeing you soon and thank you for your stay. It was great having you back!!!
