Nice place with well above average food, lovely if simple decor and a solid wine list. The hostess is a statuesque blond woman who knows her stuff. Nice, comfortable bar where we waited for a late table, and we were seated a few minutes before our reservation, a welcome change to restaurant service these days. They also happily transferred our bar tab to our dinner check, a nice, classy touch that many places, even high end ones, simply refuse to do.
Started with Red Curry Spiced Shrimp Rolls with a Citrus-Soy Dipping Sauce - outstanding. Then we immensely enjoyed Crisp Black Bass with a Lobster Hash and Baby Bok Choy, while the Mermaid's Delight of lobster, flounder, shrimp and scallops was, well, delightful. Great white wine list - perfect for a seafood place - tried the ZD Chardonnay, Miner Viognier and Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc, all outstanding and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the red list was pricey and not very imaginative.
The only truly sour part was the service, which was efficient but just not very friendly at all to the point of being cold. We felt rushed even though I made a point to say upfront that we didn't intend to hurry through our meal, and this young man needed a lesson in waiter's etiquette. Other staffers also began tearing down tables right next to us while we were still dining, a big no-no in a fine dining establishment. Still, this could just have been one bad night.
Overall, a very pleasant experience and we'll go back.
