We stayed at this hotel on a last-minute whim during New York's February vacation after visiting Sahara Sam's Indoor Water Park and finding Mom too tired to drive back to NYC. (Hint to NYers, New Jersey generally has a different week off so this is the state to visit if you haven't previously planned a vacation!).
The staff was extremely helpful to this mom and child who showed up without having packed for an overnight. We called for a room, arrived 10 minutes later and our room was ready. Glorious surprise, they had a pristine swimming pool and hot tub right next to the main pool, so parents can simultaneously play lifeguard and relax.
The price was right, the food was excellent for this type of hotel (they were helpful to another family with a child who needs to eat gluten-free) and everything in the room was in working order. Given the price, I was amazed that the room had both a microwave and larger-than-usual hotel refrigerator; you could definitely stock enough microwavable food for young children, special diets, finicky eaters or just anyone who doesn't want to pay for restaurant meals on the road.
The one glitch was that the only cook on the premises had a cutting accident in the middle of dinner and the restaurant had to be closed, so while I applaud Hilton's cost-cutting efforts, food is a real basic and you need to have at least 1 cook trainee on the premises or have a system of keeping an on-call cook/chef for such emergencies. The manager made valiant efforts to call someone in, but as this was an unusual measure and there was no one whose job obligated them to be available, the restaurant closed just as we were ready to be seated. (And we had chosen this hotel over others so Mom and kid wouldn't have to venture out at night in an unfamiliar area).
It did all work out in the end, as the staff had plenty of take-out menus on hand and they waived the rule of "no take-out in the lobby," allowing us to use restaurant seating for our food that night.
Despite its presence in a turnpike-style shopping district, if you love pools, you could have quite a relaxing getaway at this place for a low price.
Gorgeous well-stocked workout room with a large window onto the hot tub and pool, so again, if you have swimmers you want to supervise during a workout, it's easy.
