My daughter and I spent a few lovely hours in Smithville this past August. We had fun on the little paddle boats on the Smithville lake and enjoyed a nice late lunch at the Smithville Inn. The atmosphere was lovely! The historic quality was intense! I swear you could almost hear and see the folks from way back when! The food was top notch and presentation was wonderful. Little orchids were added as a garnish which we playfully tucked behind our ears! Service was excellent and very attentive. Prices were moderate but portions were generous! Try the chicken pot pie but be sure you are STARVING! It's enough for 4 people! Before eating we shopped in the shops and bought some great soon to be Christmas gifts! I plan on going back again this weekend now that the weather is cooler. Nice quiet little place to go!

We heard about this place and finally decided to try it one trip last year. Everything was almost too good to be true...the food, the staff, the atmosphere, and surprisingly the price. We figured we caught them on a good day but after three subsequent vists we have yet to be dissapointed. We love it so much more than those impersonal casino restaurants. Worth the trip.

This past Saturday (November 25, 2006), my family had the pleasure of dining at the Smithville Inn. We originally intended to have lunch at the Village's other restaurant (Fred & Ethel's) but there was a 45-minute wait. We had thought the Smithville Inn was expensive, but the lunch entrees run around $10 (dinner at around $20-25). The decor and ambience of the place was wonderful - the rustic wood-burning fireplace warmed us up in a hurry and we found the service to be just as warm (and attentive). After enjoying two types of complimentary bread, we were overwhelmed by their delicious French onion soup (lotsa cheese with nice burgundy overtones). My wife said her cheeseburger was the best she's ever tasted (and trust me, she's had MANY) and I couldn't believe the size of the chicken potpie they brought out for me. A full size piecrust stuffed with gigantic pieces of chicken, carrots, peas, and celery, in velvety thick gravy. All in all, our experience at the Smithville Inn was PEFECT. It's worth the trip from anywhere!

The food is "SUPERB." We can't wait to return to the Smthville Inn for dinner. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Live piano music plays softly during dinner. And oh the food.....delicious and beautifully presented. The triple chocolate mousse cake is to die for! Don't miss this restaurant if you are in the area.
