After seeing a mixed bag of reviews here I hesitated a bit before booking. But an 11th hour price reduction on the Holiday Inn Web site won me over.
As we pulled into the parking lot (which, from the Garden State Parkway, requires the infamous New Jersey right turn to turn left), I got nervous. It was 11 p.m. on a Saturday night, and a group of young people who had clearly been enjoying themselves was emerging from the hotel in need of detox. So I'm not surprised by the earlier complaints about a teen party.
Allowing the likely DWIs to exit the lot first, we then proceeded inside. Turns out timing really is everything, because it was uphill from there.
Check-in was easy and we went to a clean, quiet room. Since it faced the parking lot I can't say if it would have been quiet ten minutes earlier, so it might pay to ask for a room on the other side of the building.
The continental breakfast buffet in the morning was fine for the price ($0 for Priority Club members). We didn't upgrade to the hot buffet, but suspect that if you want eggs you should go to the diner up the road. I was up early, and the restaurant has free coffee which you can serve yourself. I took a cup across the hall to the business room, which has two Internet-connected PCs available free of charge.
