“Love to Visit but some Things never Change!”

Minerals Hotel

We just returned from a weekend away at Minerals Hotel. We had a big destination wedding weekend at Crystal Springs Golf Resort over 2 1/2 years ago. All of our guests stayed at Minerals Hotel for mulitple nights. So, we love to go back to the area to bring back memories of our great weekend. But, every time we have high hopes for the experience and there are the same issues - nothing ever changes. Kites restaurant in the hotel itself is awful. We went there 3 years ago when planning our wedding, during our wedding, for our first anniversary and again this past weekend. The service is horrendous and each time we go back we hope things have changed. All the servers huddle in the back behind the wall and don't do a thing. For breakfast it is a buffet (kind of expensive for what you get) and all we needed were drinks. She took our order but never brought them! Then asks us how everything is - this has happened every time! For lunch, service is sooooo slow - this is the only sitdown restaurant within walking distance and is really bad. The other restaurants around the area are great. The Crystal Tavern is fabulous. The rooms are great - they have a kitchen area in the king size bed rooms and everything is very well decorated and very clean. The pool area is really nice. The big complaint are the crowds as the public is able to join so it is not just hotel guests. So, very very crowded at the gym and pool. The pool towels are very thin and very small. Also, it is hard to get towels at times. The spa is amazing. Front desk staff are not very helpful and it is hard to find help with luggage or even a cart . Overall we love to go to Crystal Springs and are excited about the new hotel in the area - Grand Cascade Lodge - we really hope that the service there is going to be much better!

Dear Guest,

I'd also love to mention that Kites is under going a complete renovation next month. This beautifully scheduled event will not interfere or interrupt any food services to our guests, and will absolutely bring a much more fascinating atmosphere for all to enjoy.

This was our 2nd visit to Minerals. It's a nice getaway spot, just 1 hour west of the George Washington Bridge.

The indoor pool is large and clean, with an appealing layout. It's much nicer than the typical indoor rectangular pit you find in most hotels. There are also 3 jacuzzis alongside the pool for variety.

The outdoor pool is great, even in the dead of winter. It's delightful swimming in warm water, as the with mist rises up in the cold air.

The hotel has great indoor tennis courts, as well as an extensive indoor sports complex. We played every day.

We stayed in the condos. The quality is pleasant/functional, but the maintenance can be spotty. We stayed in a 1-bedroom which had a 2-bed sleeping loft. The master bedroom was small; two adults would find the bed confining. Otherwise it was OK.

Overall, it's a nice place to stay for a long weekend or school holiday at a reasonable price, and you can't beat the convenience.

My husband and I stayed overnight at this hotel as part of a marriage retreat with our church. It was a very nice time. We arrived early, around 11:00 to use the pool and other facilities, even though check-in was not until 3:00. We did not expect to be able to go directly to our room, so we brought extra clothes and bathing suits in a separate bag. The front desk was very friendly and to our surprise we could go right to our room. Nice. We asked for a free upgrade to a room with a fireplace, but they said they couldn't. That's okay, it doesn't hurt to ask.

We changed quick and went straight to the pool, and hot tub area. Everything was very clean and nice. No one was in the large indoor pool, we had the whole thing to ourselves. We did not see any kids running around either as I read in some other reviews. I guess it just depends on when you go. The outdoor pool was heavenly. It was so warm and it was snowing out and there is a beautiful view of the mountains all around. So pretty in the Fall or Winter.

After enjoying the pool, we had an early reservation at 5:00 at the Crystal Tavern. I think it is affiliated with the hotel, but it is about 5 min. up the road, behind a golf course. The service was very slow and we were the only ones in there at the time so it wasn't due to the fact that it was crowded. The prices were reasonable, but the food was nothing outstanding. I ordered a salad and it was big enough for all 4 of us at our table. Then my meal came and it was barely luke warm. I didn't send it back because I had already waited forever to get it and didn't want to wait some more. It was a lobster fetticuinni dish, very bland as well. The desserts were good. We enjoyed the strudel and lava chocolate cake.

The rooms were your standard hotel room, nothing spectacular, but we had a nice view.

The next morning we went to a great place for breakfast, called the mixing bowl. It is just down the street from the dunkin donuts off of Church Street. It is packed with locals that know it is a great place. My husband knew about it cause he worked in the area. It is a purplish, pink building you can't miss it. Really good breakfast food if that's your thing.

All in all it was a nice time, and I would like to go back with my two girls. What a treat to swim in the winter. They would love it.

My husband and I stayed at Minerals this past weekend. We were guests at a Bat Mitzvah nearby and this hotel was chosen by our hosts for out of town guests. I can not say enough about this place...it was wonderful in every way. I have never had a positive experience when staying hotels for weddings etc.I should have known better because our hosts searched for a perfect place and found one here. I usually feel captive and one of a herd. Not at this place...every request I had was honored, something that rarely happens. I wanted a room with little walking but not on top of the elevator...I got it. I needed early checkin because of the timing of the event. I got it. Everyone I dealt with at check in, on the phone, the servers at breakfast were lovely and gracious. The breakfast was hosted by our hosts and was in one of the banquet rooms. The food was excellent, the service great and out waitress, Alice went out of her way to find some oatmeal for my husband. Our room was attractive with a beautiful view and to add to the list of charms they gave up a delayed checkout so that we could enjoy some of the facilities, which are extensive. We all agreed that this would be a wonderful venue for a reunion of all our friends...it would be great for any family reunion as well, since there is so much to do that would appeal to all ages.To sum it up, I came to this hotel with zero expectations and was swept off my feet.
