We drove out to Franschhoek with no particular plans and dropped in to Dutch East for lunch.
This was the first restaurant we glanced at, and after reading the menu, we wandered down the street to see what else was on offer, but then I decided to go back to where we started and we were very glad we did.
The service was excellent and as it was a pleasant, sunny day, we sat outside. We tried the lamb curry and it was nothing short of delightful. Tangy and flavoursome with delicious condiments, it was a tasty and unexpected treat. The teenagers had burgers, but decided on the kudu burger, which was enormous and came with a huge side of fries which kept my 16 year old son fed for the next few hours.
My daughter and I decided to share a dessert and were glad we did when we saw the size of the slice of red velvet cake! We ended up sharing with my husband too!
The menu was varied and they seem to do everything well here. The wine list was good with plenty of local wines.
It is a good choice. Try it. You wont be disappointed.
