“Not a good hotel”

Inn at Rio Rancho

I usually do well with reserving hotels and do lots of research,,,,but really messed up on this one. Called on the way into town to check reservation I had made three weeks prior. Told me I had a "rack rate" ,,(which I've not had in many years.... I had booked the managers special, even lower than AAA or AAR P, but still $93 during Balloon Festival)..... That got straightened out after arrival, with my confirmation number. We were on a two week trip and this was by far the worst of 12 other hotels. I had asked for a room away from noisy ice machine and was given the room next to housekeeping and VERY loud dryers running. Promised they would be off by 5 PM, but it was 7:30PM., and on early the next morning, but we were up and leaving anyway. This room was old and in need of attention: wall paper peeling off bathroom walls, a half used bar of soap in the tub soap holder, main room lamp knob broken so it was not usable, towel rack hanging loose from wall, bedspread very dirty underneath, trash outside door to cars,
I understand they are "working on' the rooms gradually, and the manager told me the next morning that our room had not been used in quite a while....probably a month!!!

OTHER PEOPLE at this property were annoyed with things also:
One lady said she only had one hand towel for the two of them, another lady standing at the front desk when I was asking about restaurants said she only had one towel also and no toilet paper (they brought out a box of kleenex to her, along with towels).
Another man was standing there and I told him to go ahead of me and he said , "you don't want to hear what I have to say (to the front desk people").
I VERY rarely complain about hotel rooms, (we travel a lot, have lived and traveled overseas etc) however this property was the exception.
It could be a lovely property if handled right....there was a job fair going on and the conference rooms are popular, I think! The beds were medium-good .
If one wanted to stay in this Best Western, and it IS a good location for THAT area way NW of Albuerqueque, perhaps you might look over the room first.

We booked through hotels.com. Evidently this means you get put in a 2nd floor room farthest from the parking lot which is accessible by only one set of stairs.

We were traveling with our 6 month old, so we asked for a more accessible room. This room was still in the process of being cleaned. We needed a place to take care of our baby, so we left and came back later. We got a new room, but the hotel forgot to register us to that room. At 11:00 pm someone else entered the room.

We immediately called the front desk as we were concerned about our safety. The employee at the front desk explained the registration error. We asked that the manager call us. He didn't.

There was a sign posted in the room indicating to speak with the front desk if there was any portion of your stay you are not satisfied with and the money for this portion of your stay would be refunded. When we mentioned this, we were told that this policy does not apply to people who don't book directly through Best Western.

The next day we placed a complaint at the front desk which was written in a huge binder with all the other complaints. The staff at the front desk was not equipped to deal with complaints other than writing them in this book.

My husband spent hours on the phone with Best Western, the front desk, and hotels.com. When we finally spoke to the manager, he suggested we cancel our 2nd night through hotels.com but offerred us an upgraded room (which consisted of an additional kitchenette and French doors opening to the courtyard. The bathroom was still the size of a matchbox. At least this room got HBO unlike our first one.)

We'll never stay at a Best Western again.

“Sadly A Run Down Hotel”

I am sorry to see that this hotel, which is in a great location and boasts a beautiful courtyard is so unkept and run down. We were told when we arrived that we were being put in a recently remodeled room. The bed was comfortable. But that was the extent of it. The pillows were travelers size and they gave us two for a king bed. The desk had a chair with a huge water (I hope) stain on it. The bathroom had another persons shampoo and the tub was dirty. In the morning I discovered that the shower barely spit water. I called the front desk and was told that maintainence did not come in until 10:00am. They offered to give me a key to another room so that I could take a shower. Refusing their offer, I left the hotel and went to get some breakfast. When I returned the manager, who is very nice, had installed a new shower head. I took a shower and discovered that the bath towels were the size of hand towels and grey. Later I went to use the jaquzzi and found it cold. We went to Sam's Club and bought bath towels and pillows. Why did we stay? Well we needed to be in Rio Rancho and having booked through Expedia you have to get the Hotels agreement in order to obtain a refund. Expedia did give me a $100.00 coupon. Would I stay there again.....No! It is sad to see such a nice property so poorly maintained.

“could do better”

Inn at Rio Rancho

Have stayed in numerous Best Western and previously found them to be excellent. I had stayed at them because of cleaniness and always thought they all served continental breakfast. This one did not serve Continental Breakfast and was surprised that it was really very old. Room did not impress me and service was mediocre. If you are going to Rio Rancho I would suggest The Raddison just as convienient or Days Inn which includes breakfast.

This is a 60's style motel but in a very nice suburb of Albuquerque. It is right across the street from Intel. THe grounds are spacious with a nice pool in the courtyard. THe building could use some paint and work on the outside but inside rooms ok.
