I usually do well with reserving hotels and do lots of research,,,,but really messed up on this one. Called on the way into town to check reservation I had made three weeks prior. Told me I had a "rack rate" ,,(which I've not had in many years.... I had booked the managers special, even lower than AAA or AAR P, but still $93 during Balloon Festival)..... That got straightened out after arrival, with my confirmation number. We were on a two week trip and this was by far the worst of 12 other hotels. I had asked for a room away from noisy ice machine and was given the room next to housekeeping and VERY loud dryers running. Promised they would be off by 5 PM, but it was 7:30PM., and on early the next morning, but we were up and leaving anyway. This room was old and in need of attention: wall paper peeling off bathroom walls, a half used bar of soap in the tub soap holder, main room lamp knob broken so it was not usable, towel rack hanging loose from wall, bedspread very dirty underneath, trash outside door to cars,
I understand they are "working on' the rooms gradually, and the manager told me the next morning that our room had not been used in quite a while....probably a month!!!
OTHER PEOPLE at this property were annoyed with things also:
One lady said she only had one hand towel for the two of them, another lady standing at the front desk when I was asking about restaurants said she only had one towel also and no toilet paper (they brought out a box of kleenex to her, along with towels).
Another man was standing there and I told him to go ahead of me and he said , "you don't want to hear what I have to say (to the front desk people").
I VERY rarely complain about hotel rooms, (we travel a lot, have lived and traveled overseas etc) however this property was the exception.
It could be a lovely property if handled right....there was a job fair going on and the conference rooms are popular, I think! The beds were medium-good .
If one wanted to stay in this Best Western, and it IS a good location for THAT area way NW of Albuerqueque, perhaps you might look over the room first.
