I have relatives in the area and this is the only hotel my family and I stay at when visiting (twice a year, NEVER during racing season). We like the comforts it provides - the location (safe area, right next to mall with grocery and many other stores in case of any forgotten needs/items which is a given with kids, plus a Dennys you can walk to in < 30 seconds if the continental breakfast isn't cutting it for you), the heated indoor pool and hottub (which in reality is more like a warmtub) and the comfortable rooms.
There are some things that are not so great about it. If you don't keep the heater slash A/C unit on constantly, you can hear a lot from other rooms & the hallway. We had a room once that was the closest room to the pool, and it had a damp, musty smell to it even with the A/C on full blast (no other rooms were available the first night of our stay so we couldn't move, and we were not offered a discount. We moved the second night, however.) Also, I question how strictly the no-pets policy is enforced as I have seen people taking dogs into their rooms several times (that could be an industry-wide problem, but I mention it because the wife is allergic to pet dander).
Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons for us. I would recommend it to any family looking to stay in the area.
