The Cookery never fails to please in terms of food, service, or atmosphere. We went early on a Sunday evening, and were surprised to find it so crowded, but despite our having no reservation the hostess found us a comfortable table. We had an excellent meal from their interesting menu, which specializes in Italian food. I chose the house-made ricotta gnocchi in tomato sauce and must confess that their version was just as good as the gnocchi I make at home. My husband ordered branzini and was delighted with his choice. Most interesting for us, as we have recently begun to attend wine tasting sessions within New York and whenever we travel to other locations, we were sitting next to a table full of happy men who were meeting to taste blinded bottles of wine from a particular Italian winery with their dinner. They were having a wonderful time and their enthusiasm was a joy to behold. What an excellent way to hold a party!
