My daughter and I were flying to NY from Tampa for a surprise baby shower. I had read all the reviews before making reservations for us for two nights. We arrived pretty late and it was cold in New York the weekend of Oct. 15. The shuttle arrived promptly, the chauffeur was personable with great driving skills, we checked in with a cheerful staff member, had a great room, and went to the restaurant downstairs. My daughter loved her clam chowder but my "miso soup" was greasy with tofu squares floating in it. Hoping for some decent green tea, the hallmark of the Chinese, I was disappointed to get an empty cup with a tea bag sitting in it and some hot water on the side. I asked the server whether the kitchen had teapots. She said the kitchen is "Americanized" and doesn't use tea pots. I was stunned. I wrote a review but who knows if anyone read it. The beds are marvelous and comfortable. The wake-up call was on time. The continental breakfast was very good (flaky croissants and other delectables, a good selection of fruit, juice, cereal, yogurt and coffee). On the second night (it was a Saturday night) we looked into the hote's restaurant to see how busy it was. There were only a few people there. I wasn't surprise. We asked the front desk for a recommendation for good Thai food and were referred to the Green Papaya where we walked in just a few minutes. What struck me about "Chinatown" was the absence of vagrants and people asking for money. My daughter and I felt completely safe, and it was 9 PM. We were strangers in a strange city and everyone was helpful and courteous. If the Sheraton had food (dinner) as incredible as the Green Papaya's, they would be swamped with diners. The tea at the Green Papaya was complimentary (!) and came in a large teapot. On a cold night, it was sheer heaven. The hotel itself was wonderful, and staff helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Pretty good stay...a great option to avoid Manhattan Hotels.

Can't justify $$$$$$ for spending a night in Manhattan so I gave this hotel a try. Free shuttle from LaGuardia was efficient. Hotel is in Flushing Chinatown with a variety of Thai, Vietnamese and Korean restaurants in the area. Subway access is convenient and easy to get to Manhattan for meetings.

The hotel is decent but it does need some renovations. The facilities and rooms are clean but your can see that it is kind of worn out. Having seen the photos from the Sheratons in Manhattan though, it's not as bad.

I stay at quite a few Starwood properties, the staff here are by far the best I have experienced. I will definitely think of coming back to this hotel in the future.

It is so rare these days to go to a hotel that actually does as good a job as their commercials advertise. I get tired of hearing how great the customer service is only to arrive at a hotel and find little or no concern for the customer. Well, at the Sheraton LaGuardia, the staff not only met the expectations of the commercials, but exceeded them. Every concern or question was met with immediate attention and follow up. I am a business traveller and I have been to many, many hotels, but this place is the best I have ever seen.

The facillity was very nice as well. Located in China town, their are tons of great inexpensive Asian restaurants. The subway into Manhattan is a few steps from the Hotel doors and the free shuttle to the airport makes arriving and leaving New York very easy.

I will never stay anywhere else when coming to New York on business or pleasure.

We blocked off a group of rooms at this hotel for our recent wedding (the wedding was not at the hotel, but nearby). The reservations manager was incredibly helpful and gave us a great deal for our wedding guests, most of whom were traveling great distances to attend our wedding. Our guests appreciated the price (NYC is expensive!), that it was walking distance to the subway and that they could check out super authentic Chinese food and interesting shopping in the immediate neighborhood.

As for the hotel itself, the lobby is very nicely decorated and the rooms are well appointed. My husband and I stayed in a suite, which was spacious and plush -- high threadcount sheets, flat screen TV, nice antique-y looking sofa, etc. The room service menu was fantastic and we loved the steaks.

This isn't the place to stay if you want to be right in the heart of Manhattan; it is about a 30 minute ride on the subway to Times Square. It is also not the place to stay if you plan to visit New York City and eat at Applebee's. It's in the heart of Queens' version of Chinatown and this is where you get to see the beauty of one of the most diverse cities in the world. This *is* the place to stay if you want good service and great bang for your buck. It is also great if you are visiting Queens and don't want to stay at one of the hotels way the heck out near JFK airport.

Chosen this hotel because our plane arrived in LGA @ 11:30 pm and hotel provide free airport shuttle from 4 am to 12:30 midnight plus being of Chinese origin, one can't miss staying in Chinatown yet with a reputable hotel as Sheraton but most importantly, we redeem our 2 nights stay with starwood points and cash and convenience for us as we joined the local 1 day NYC tour that picked up nearby this hotel. Since I am of Chinese origin, I have no problem seeing Chinese outside of the hotel. Inside of the hotel, I didn't see many Chinese employees, mostly Hispanic from housekeeping, front desk to bell boy during my 2 nights stay. So, I guess too many people complaint about seeing Chinese people in and out of the hotel and the management decided to hire more Hispanic employee which most reviewers of this hotel in TA are more used to expect in hotel industry nowadays?!? Honeslty, the guests that stayed here that I see for our 2 nights stay are mostly Caucasians. So, don't know why the previous reviewers made such a big thing about this hotel being a Chinese place and put such negative comments on the Chinese neighborhood surrounding this hotel. We felt SAFE the night we arrived trying to get milks for my 3 years old walking a few blocks here and there after asking the bell person where we can get milk. overall, I have a VERY POSITIVE STAY here for 2 nights. Pick up from airport is SMOOTH, just 15 min wait after I made my call to the hotel and Hispanic driver is nice and courteous. Hispanic staff checked us in smoothly and as an SPG member, we got upgraded to club floor and have priviledge of club floor access though didn't use it till the 3 rd morning upon our departure as we were out busy exploring Chinatown the next day after waking up late. Eating dim sum, visiting the Flushing Mall and checking out where our pick up location for the tour for next day before visiting the Empire State Building in the late afternoon.
Requested a refrigerator and is free as we have a 3 yrs old and we bought 3 bottles of 16 oz milk @ nearby newstand which open 24 hrs as Duane Reade offers only 1 gallon milk and we know our daughter will not be able to finish the 1 gallon within 2 nights stay. I forgot that we were on club floor and have access to the club lounge in the morning and evening, shouldn't have bought the milk as it will be provided in the breakfast at the club lounge. Anyway, we didn't know what to expect but next time, we know. GREAT to be an SPG member and got upgraded to club floor. Our room 1620 is very comfortable, clean and spacious! My daughter LOVE this hotel apart from the Holiday Inn Seattle Airport and Westin Seattle and when we moved to Holiday Inn Downtown Soho for our 3rd night stay in NYC, she cried for hours so SADLY for not returning back to Sheraton LaGuardia on 3rd night before we joined another coach bus tour for 3 Days 2 Nights visiting Philly/Washinton DC, Niagara Falls9American Side) and Thousand Island.
Due to the location being Chinatown and I love Chinese foods and some of the eatery there open till very late, closed at 4 am, as well as being so comfortable the entire stay here, I would definite stay here again the next time we visit NYC.
