“Spacious Room, Iffy Breakfast Buffet”

We stayed two nights. This is an old style downtown hotel that appears to have been built in the 1920's or thereabouts. Our room was actually a two-room suite with 1 1/2 baths and two separate entrances - very spacious and bright...it was nice having separate TV's in the sleeping and sitting room. One bed was a bit "creaky" but the other was fine. Rooms were clean although some of the furnishings were rather worn, as in water damage to the tops of tables and a bit of wear on the bedspreads and linens. Bathrooms were acceptable, although the grout needs some deep cleaning in spots. This hotel was quiet and peaceful. Parking is ample. Complimentary toiletries are fine. The lobby is spacious and impressive; rather victorian looking. The breakfast buffet was the typical carb-fest of bread-based products - expect to pay an additiional price of a few dollars more for eggs and a side meat such as bacon or sausage. The indoor pool is clean and attractive. We noticed at least one bus group at this hotel during our stay. AAA rates this hotel as a three star, but we think it is more of a upper-end two star establishment. For the price we paid ($119 a night for the suite) we thought it was average and we would recommend this hotel for the traveller looking for a quiet, spacious, no frills room/suite.

I, like the previous reviewer, won this bid on Priceline.com. Since you do not know the hotel you will receive when naming your price, I became very concerned about this win after I read the previous reviews. So concerned that I called the tourism bureau of Glens Falls, NY and was assured that the hotel has had some updates and that I would not be disappointed. I was not disappointed! This is a charming hotel with a grand lobby. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were fresh and clean with a Victorian feel and a walk-in closet. The baths were updated with an enclosed shower. The hotel had a business center with free use of the Internet, computer and printer. The swimming pool was very nice and clean, just as pictured in the hotel's listing, but the whirlpool spa was down when we were there. We stayed on the first floor and the halls and carpets were nicely decorated and clean with a gorgeous view of the grand lobby. We were very pleased with all aspects of our stay. This hotel is a great location to stay if you are planning a visit to the Lake George and Great Escape area. It is located in a residential area, but within walking distance to several restaurants, a bank and a Rite Aid. There are restaurants on the premises and room service, but we didn’t utilize either. I would have no reservations of returning to the Queensbury Hotel and/or recommending it to family and friends. This hotel was sold out on the days we were there. This hotel is also a conference center and had several going on during our stay. I took photos to show you that this is worth the stay

“Seriously In Need of A Major Renovation”

Queensbury Hotel

18 Jul 2007

Like a recent poster, I have utilized Priceline and never been disappointed....Until I won the Queensbury Hotel on a bid.

This is not a three star property at all....The carpeting was DISGUSTING and stained, paint peeling on the walls and the worst mattress I have ever slept on. The bedding was so worn and had holes in the blankets.

I'll include that this review is coming from soneone who loves to camp and is not a diva....The filthiness is what really bothered me about this hotel. Gross!

This is a shame because you can see that this was once a Grand Hotel. The whole location of the hotel is seedy, despite a major city renovation....Hopefully things will improve here because if they don't I can't imagine they will stay in business.

My boyfriend and I use Priceline for all of our hotel stays. We have NEVER been disappointed with a 3 or 4 star selection they've given us when you name your own price. This weekend, 6/29-6/30/07 we paid over $100 a night and were 'given' the Queensbury Hotel. I should've known by the odd looking street signs for the hotel that it would not live up to my expectations. Seriously, they should change the font to make it AT LEAST appear to be a nice hotel on the sign....As soon as we got off of the elevator on our floor, we just looked at each other. The carpeting needs to be replaced...it's drab and dark. I felt like I was in a 1 star establishment. I'm all for quaint hotels but like the other reviewer said, it's SEEDY. The management hasn't painted the walls or doors in ... I don't know how long and it was very obvious. We opened the door to our room and we immediately smelled mildew or mold and saw a grandma quilt on the bed. Sure, when you're in a certain ambiance that's ok, but my boyfriend and I didn't sign up for a quaint old hotel. The room with a queen sized bed that we had was sooo small that I knew with everything we've seen, we had to leave EVEN IF WE LOST OUR 2 night's stay's money. There was no way I was going to breathe that awful smell for 2 days.
I was quite angry that Priceline said it was a 3 star hotel. We left and called Priceline..normally they don't get you a refund but when we told them everything, THANK GOODNESS they were VERY helpful and they called the Queensbury who said they'd refund us. We then booked the brand new Wingate by Wyndham with priceline and ...AHHHH relief...PERFECT new hotel with all the amenities we needed. STAY AWAY from the Queensbury hotel unless you like smelling mold and mildew.

"Seedy" is the best word to describe the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, New York. The condition to which the New Castle Hotels management has allowed this landmark to deteriorate is shameful. The mattresses and beds (two in our room,) towels, woodwork and decor were one star, if that. The algae bloom in the tap water made it undrinkable without holding your nose. The place needs to be gutted and redone. It would be nice if it were sold to an interested party so Glens Fallsians can again raise their heads when people mention the name of this former source of pride. They are renovating the downtown Glens Falls infrastructure in preparation for the 2008 centennial celebration. I hope someone rescues the Queensbury in time.
