There was FECAL MATTER IN THE SWIMMING POOL sunday morning, I found out by backstroking into it, what an awful way to begin the day. I advised pool maintenance who removed the matter but none of the floating particles, leaving anyone at risk who may swim there. I showered twice and demanded a refund at the front desk but the manager
just smiled and said I was out of luck.

An absolutely repulsive experience and an unbelievably primal mentality to be found at the front desk. An absolute circus, watch out for this one!

Well, I don't know........... the place seemed nice enough, very large Holiday Inn with Holidome, large and modern rooms which looked clean, with a nice creek outside my window, but I did notice on the floor of the bathroom what looked to be a very small, dead roach. There was also something in the bedroom area sticking out of the molding along the floor that looked like a moth. I tried to squash it with some tissue, but it disappeared down into the molding, and then I noticed that I could pull the molding back as it was loose. I read another review that said there was a cockroach infestation here. I know that all these places probably have an exterminator on a regular basis, but I couldn't stay here again knowing I might encounter roaches.

The Holiday Inn has been a wonderful find for my group of Officials and volunteers involved with a large equestrian competition up the road in Saugerties. I need, basically, 60 rooms for a week. I need my rooming list accurately processed. I need a flexible staff that can cope with the vagaries of people that don't show up, come in the middle of the night, show up when not expected. I need a nice restaurant and early morning breakfasts. I need a wait staff in the restaurant that can cope with feeding 10 hungry officials, and then four more late comers - with a smile - and toward the closing hour. And, for some, I need a bar. I need Grab and Go bagged breakfasts at 6:30 AM for volunteers. I need quiet rooms where my staff can rejuvenate to face the next day's horses. This is not the newest Holiday Inn and has a bit of a 60's feel, but that is immaterial to us. The rooms were clean and adequate. We spend very little time in them. Holiday Inn has provided all this - with a smile. We are returning next year!

I travel frequently around the state and chose the Holiday Inn beacuse it was closest to the site I was visitig the next day. At first glance it seemed fine- nice amenities, well-kept, reliable wireless internet, and pleasant staff.

When I awoke at 12:30 to use the bathroom, several bugs scurried across the bathroom floor when I turned on the light. I went back into the main room and when I turned on that light, two more bugs were on the dresser. I caught one under a glass and called the front desk. The gentleman who came up to investigate said, "We'd better get you a new room". He returned shortly with a new key and kindly offered to carry my bags to the new room on the other side of the hotel. I declined and made my way to the new room. As I entered the room and turned on the light, I looked into the bath to see several more cockroaches. I trapped one under a glass and ran down to the front desk requesting immediate check out. The gentleman was very apologetic and offered to refund the night's stay as soon as the computers were back online.

When I went back the next day to make sure the charges had been credited, a woman at the front desk was again very apologetic about the situation, saying, "it's a constant battle."

While the staff was most helpful in making amends, such an infestation is a public health hazard. For the health and safety of your families, please avoid this establishment until they are able to bring the infestation under control. The Ulster Co. Public health dept. has been notified of the problem.
