The lodge itself is beautiful, very true to rustic log theme, every detail is thought out perfectly, both indoors and outdoors. It has every possible log design element and decor I could think of. Room was very clean and new, even junior suite was good size, with log furniture and many ornamental pieces: wooden skis in the corner, birch bark mirror frames, bear clock and bookends etc. It is very nicely landscaped, has a little lake with trail around it, and a pool. Staff were very polite and courteous. We saw two areas of improvements though: first, the balcony floor and furniture were dirty, with bird droppings on the table. Second, the breakfast took forever. They didn't have a buffet so we had to order from the menu, and there was just one waitress in entire restaurant so it took her 20 minutes just to come and take our order and another 25 to bring the food. The restaurant was freezing cold, night was in the low 40s and they kept the terrace door open. I had to go back to the room for a jacket. Also, I wish they had more traditional oatmeal, not the Irish kind. It looked like the hotel was generally understaffed, there was just the front desk girl when we were checking in ( 5 pm), no bellman, no concierge, nobody offered to help us with luggage or even to open the door. Usually we don't care much, but for a hotel of this class and price range it was unexpected. Coffee at the restaurant wasn't so good but the coffee shop was totally awesome. They have very fancy Italian expresso machine, just to watch this thing work was a treat.More
