“Perfection and I'm picky!!”

MapleStone Inn

This very special property gets consistently outstanding reviews, and here's another to add to the pile.
I consider myself to be very much like The Princess and the Pea, and I found absolutely nothing that left me in the least disappointed or uncomfortable. The Inn is not only beautiful, but immaculate. The innkeepers, Sean and Patty, are that perfect combination of totally available yet non-intrusive; they are truly lovely people whom I would want as friends. And yes, the breakfasts are incredible. I plan to return to the Maplestone whenever I am in New Paltz, and my next trip can't come soon enough. The place is, simply, perfect.

“Quiet Country Elegance”

MapleStone Inn

This was our second visit to the Maplestone Inn. We first stayed there in May of 2007. We have been thrilled both times with our experience. Here are some of the highlights:

Food:
Patty and Sean cook up delicious three course breakfasts you could only imagine in your dreams. We live in Manhattan -- so we know gourmet from average. It's very clear that a lot of thought, preparation and fresh ingredients go into their breakfasts. For example, one breakfast featured fresh peaches and yogurt followed by a gourmet egg sandwich on sourdough bread -- followed by banana bread french toast. Wow. We were in the New Paltz area to hike/bike around -- so that big breakfast really came in handy!

Decor/Rooms:
We stayed in the Tucker Room on both of our visits. All three rooms are lovely (we were able to walk through and check them out). We like the Tucker with its soothing color scheme and large bathroom -- complete with separate tub and shower (and fireplace!) This room = comfort + romance + relaxation. Patty has an eye for detail and we noticed that she even used fresh flowers from her amazing garden in a small vase on the wall.

Service:
Patty and Sean really make you feel like you're special guests. They are happy to print out directions from the internet, update you on the latest restaurants in town and they clean your room daily. They are friendly and low-key -- they are happy to chat - but also understand you are there to unwind.

We can't say enough good things about our experiences visiting the Maplestone Inn. You'll find yourself planning your next trip -- before you've even left!

A few other local tips:
- Lightsey bike shop in Gardiner -- helpful and reliable
- Main 36 in New Paltz -- delicious food for dinner -- good service
- The Mud Puddle -- yummy lunches
- The Egg's Nest in High Falls -- quirky -- great food

It is a pleasure to add my rave review to all the others listed here. To simply refer to the Maplestone as a B&B sells it short. So what should we call it instead? How about a perfect combination of elegant accommodations, gracious service, and as other have so rightly stated, breakfasts that are out of this world. I can't wait to go back.

This was a perfect place to meet friends and explore the Hudson Valley. Sean and Patty lovingly restored this beautiful old stone house in a tranquil setting outside New Paltz. The rooms are tastefully decorated with antiques and art, and the spacious bedrooms have comfortable king sized beds. We loved the Vermont casting stove in the large bathroom with the jacuzzi soaking tub. It was lovely to have drinks and conversation by the fire in one of the cozy lounges before we went out for dinner at night. Our hosts couldn't have been more gracious, and we felt completely spoiled with the delectable three course gourmet breakfasts every morning. There is much to do and see in the Hudson Valley, including fine dining at the Culinary Institute among others. We loved charming Rhinebeck, NY, the Mohonk preserve, and visiting the Vanderbilt and Roosevelt mansions. But most of all, the Maplestone Inn was a real treat, and we were made to feel at home. They've managed to raise B&B to an art form.

“An Ideal Weekend”

We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Maplestone Inn. The room was extremely well-kept and comfortable and there were many nice touches. Our favorite was the big tub and bathroom stove in the Tucker Room. The hosts, Patti and Sean, really go above and beyond in creating a pleasant stay for their guests. They're totally congenial but also unintrusive -- exactly what you would want. The food was excellent and the breakfast setting -- in front of an oversized fireplace was sublime. We highly recommend the Maplestone.
