We spent 3 wonderful nights at Alexander's Boutique Hotel of Oia on the island of Santorini, Greece. We went in August of 2007 in the middle of a heat wave in Greece. Needless to say, it was great coming back to our hotel and having our air conditioner to cool off with. The staff was very helpful and friendly, arranging our ride from the port of Fira upon our arrival and to the airport for our departure. The staff members made several appointments for us, including couple's massages at a great spa in town. They also helped us choose the locations for our evening meals and made the reservations and arranged rides for us. We loved the spa and the restaurants that they suggested, and everything was exactly what we were looking for. The staff and owners of this hotel really know how to pamper their guests! They truly went above and beyond our expectations.

The hotel itself was so charming and cozy, and we loved the ambiance of the cave houses. We stayed in the Emerald Cavehouse Villa and it was so special- like a second honeymoon! We loved the furniture and layout of the rooms, and the view was spectacular. Another couple that we traveled with stayed in the Citrine Cave house which was also adorable. All of the rooms at this hotel are beautiful and inviting. Our favorite thing about the hotel was the beautiful terrace outside our front door with the amazing view of the caldera. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace every morning. The breakfast is quite delicious and also very private, and it is served right outside your front door. We also liked that we could walk into town from our hotel. However, the hotel is situated more on the outskirts of the main strip, which has its pros and cons. For one thing, it was much quieter and more peaceful than if we had stayed on the main strip, which is crowded with tourists. So we didn't mind the short walk into the heart of town.

Our only complaint at all (if we have to have one) is that the pool is shared with another hotel, and the pool is a few blocks down the street at the other hotel. The pool was nice, but it was not the pool we saw on the website, and so this was our only disappointment. Although the pool was very clean and quiet and had a nice snack bar, which we enjoyed. We were expecting a pool overlooking the caldera, and the actual pool does not have a view. Other than that, our 3 nights in Oia at Alexander's could not have been more comfortable, romantic, and relaxing, with much thanks to the thoughtful care and planning of the staff at Alexander's. We hope to return soon, and we highly recommend it!

Being one of the few places open at the end of autumn, ended up staying here. Being a traveler who prefers luxury hotels, I was not so impressed by the rooms. Everything in the suites is doable but the rooms were so dated that I didn't feel comfortable. The staff though is excellent and give the whole place a real home like feeling.

View from the suite was amazing, but next time, I will try another hotel in Oia, closer to the windmills.

I was fortunate enough to have my first visit to Santorini during the off season, and I am so glad I did.
The serenity of curling up on my terrace Sunday morning over fresh coffee, and a wonderful breakfast; listening to the monks chant was awe inspiring. I felt like there was nothing but me, the sea, and the sky. Except of course, unless I needed something. Then there were my friends, the wonderful staff of Alexander's cave houses.
I loved being snuggled up inside the Emerald villa, listening to the wind at night while perusing the books, and opening my doors in the morning to see the sun rise. Asia serves the most delicious breakfasts.
Alexander must be the most gracious host that i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The warmth of all the people at Alexander's radiates.
I returned home after far too short of a visit feeling content and rejuvinated, looking forward to my next time there. Definitely, the most relaxing, and intriquing place I have ever stayed.
Special thanks to Gabby and Kostas, who make sure every detail of vacation is perfect.

Given the lack of hotel options in autumn Santorini, we ended up at the Alexander nearly by default and found that there were both positives and negatives at this property. Pros: friendly, accommodating staff who lend the facility a bed and breakfast type feel. The view is top notch, a given for most properties in Oia. Cons: both the Sapphire and the Pearl cabins (the latter of which we had originally reserved and were given a viewing of prior to receiving our upgrade) have charm, but could stand a bit of updating. The Sapphire bathroom suffered from a faint mildew odor and a minor ant problem. I would not shy away from booking at the Alexander, but I would go into the experience with both eyes open. If you are of the luxury hotel ilk, you may want to book your stay elsewhere on the island.

My boyfriend and I visited Greece for 10 days in Oct 07, and stayed in Santorini for 4 nights. We found Alexander's Boutique Hotel (after many travel site recommendations) and it was fabulous. They upgraded us to the Blue Diamond Villa, and when Gabriella showed us the place, we were completely speechless. The place was just GORGEOUS. Words cannot describe just how beautiful this villa is -- it was like something out of a movie. The private balcony overlooked the caldera, and we had a private jacuzzi, too. The first night we were there, my boyfriend proposed! The entire staff was great -- Gabriella, Elsa, Kosta, and we even had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Alexander himself.

I will always have fond memories of Santorini and particularly of Alexander's Boutique Hotel -- for our engagement, for our wonderful experience, and the very friendly staff. I felt like we were old friends, and was sad to leave. I can't wait to come back!
