We stayed at the Esperas Traditional Houses towards the end of May 2008 and had an amazing time. The suite was beautiful, the views amazing, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful every step of the way. We knew we were in good hands once we received an personal email from Yvonne the day we made our reservation welcoming us to the hotel and asking if there was anything they could do to make our stay wonderful.

The experience only got better once we arrived at Esperas. We arrived at the hotel at about 6:30 AM after not sleeping the night before. We were showed to our room immediately and had an opportunity to rest up without waiting to register at 8 AM. Later that day we woke up, went to register, and asked Amy to help us find and retrieve our luggage which was lost in transit. Over the next 4 days Amy and Yvonne worked tirelessly to contact the airlines and airports to track our bags. Even though we weren't successful in getting our bags for a few days, both Amy and Yvonne enabled us to enjoy our time in Santorini without having to spend hours on the phone ourselves.

We also were given great recommendations for restaurants each day. We ate VERY well every day.

A couple of things to keep in mind:
1. the hotel is located on the quit side of Oia, with an amazing view of the sunset
2. be prepared for steps...there are many many steps at the hotel and to get into the main part of town for restaurants and shopping

All in all, we had an amazing time in Santorini and at Esperas. We recommend this hotel hands down to anyone looking for a great getaway.

Amazing! Esperas was more than we could have imagined! The view was absolutely georgeous! Perfect for viewing Oia's famous sunset. We also had a view of Thirassia. The staff was absolutely wonderful--recommending a fantastic restaurant to eat at for our anniversary and setting us up on an excursion to the volcano. The hotel made for a perfect getaway! As I mentioned many times on our vacation: "It doesn't get any better than this!"

My wife and I stayed at Esperas for four nights and just loved it. The setting of the hotel could not be better: overlooking the caldera, it is situated perfectly for relaxing in the sun with a breeze from the Agean below. Also, the hotel is perfectly situated for watching the famous Santorini sunsets. The management and staff couldn't be nicer; very friendlyt! It is a short walk to, in our opinion the nicest town on the island, Oia, which as a good selection of restaurants. Our "room," it was really more of a suite, #118 was fantastic, very private! We would describe this as a first class hotel but not a luxury hotel. As pointed out, LOTS of steps. Don't come here, or most of the Greek Islands if you have mobility problems, you won't enjoy it. Also, not for young kids either. We also went to Mykonos and, no comparison, Santorini was MUCH better. All these islands are, for the most part, for sun and relaxing. If you want a fantastic location with dramatic views and some class, we recommend Esperas Traditional Houses.

My husband and I stayed at the Esperas Houses upon the recommendation of our travel agency, TrueGreece, and loved our stay. Our unit, #104 was one of the Traditional House price level units, and was directly above the pool. As the "houses" are built into caves on the hillside, the spaces may not fit a standard concept of a house. In fact, our bed was inset in the cave portion of our unit and only accessible by crawling in from the foot of the bed. However, that helped us to remember that we weren't in our normal culture and environment. The staff is absolutely fantastic - very courteous, helpful, and friendly. Our room was clean upon arrival and the hotel provided a half-bottle of Greek white wine to welcome us. Breakfast was plentiful with eggs, breads and pastries, cereal, Greek yogurt, and fresh fruits available. If you will be arriving at this hotel after a full day of traveling, I would encourage you to book a reservation with them for dinner. The hotel will seat only 4 tables for dinner. Our first Santorini sunset meal, after 9 hours of traveling from Patmos, was on a small, intimate patio and we enjoyed a wonderful seafood platter. Very peaceful and relaxing. Be forewarned that if you stay here, you'll be climbing a LOT of stairs. From our unit (which was towards the top of the hotel), we had to climb 80 steps to get to the windmill which marked the path into Oia. Great workout for the legs!
