Prime (exceptional) location, very calm and very beautiful views including from the individual balconies at each room. Perfect for a resting stay.
The so-called cave "suite" we had (close to 600 EUR a night) was however just a room (ok, a traditional cave) with a sofa in addition to the bed: in total, more or less of the size usually expected for a "single room " in a five stars hotel. But the room was well equipped (nice LCD TV, DVD etc) and with good quality stuff (the bathroom materials were nice). Our "suite" was supposed to have a Jacuzzi: indeed the clay bathtub was equipped with 6 streams but we were told upon our arrival that it would not be possible to use it , unless we make a specific request to the reception at least 30 mn before. Too cumbersome. Same to take a bath (impossible, you have to ask). So we just had showers.
The staff was welcoming (and most of them friendly) and harworking but unexperienced. We actually wasted a lot of time just because they wanted to be "helpful": ask for a telephone number and they will want to call for you but that takes a day ; go to the bar and ask for an ice cube, they won't give it to you but bring a jar 30 mn later with enough ice cubes for building an igloo; when we arrived for the first time, it took 20 mn to bring a set of handbags from the reception to our bedroom. However, they found us a very nice boat trip in the Caldera with free transfer.
The restaurant was good, classic for a 5 stars hotel, offering "French-international" cuisine. I wish it offered more local food and the fish seemed to be frozen, not fresh. The wine list was however a bit disappointing and the waitress hardly knew anything on Santorin's wines. Still, the scenery is really beautiful and this is one of the rare good, calm and quite restaurants in Oia.
The real shame was the breakfast. 55 EUR pro capita and you get a menu from which you should order what you want to eat. Like lunch or dinner. But unlike lunch or dinner, you usually (well, we) want to pick up a dozen different things when having breakfast in a hotel. And here, you have to order that dozen things one by one. So the waitress was impatient, I got my croissant 15 mn before I had a knife, we never received the jam and butter, had to yell for coffee refilling and finally went out with the feeling that we had just eaten an omelette for 55 EUR. Poor value for money. We did it once and then took the habit to go to a lovely terrasse in Oia with breakfast for two at 10 EUR each. If I can give an advice to Mytique: make a buffet at 30 EUR and offer an addiitonal menu. People will actually spend much more money in your hotel than they do now, and be happier.
Overall a good experience, but could be better if the hotel management was a bit more skilful. We had three night there, two would have been enough.
