We stayed at 2 hotels while in Santorini. This was our first. We were here for 6 nights and were pleasantly surprised. Previous reviews had been mixed. This hotel is in a really central location. Easy walking distance to the town of Fira but just far enough away. Lots of great restaurants within 5-10 minutes either direction. The pool & well equipped qym were great when you wanted to chill at the hotel instead of head off to the beaches. Buffet style breakfast was repetitive but still the best we had while in Greece. It's a great alternative for someone who wants to be close to the Caldera without the price tag. Our room was a good size, very clean, and had a private balcony. Tons to do in Santorini... and it looks just like the pictures!

We got to Sanorini after a lovely stay in Athens and in Mykonos. Needless to say, the island is nice but this hotel is NOT. We were told they'd meet us to help us with the luggage up two very steep hills...no one showed up. After lugging our stuff up, we found the hotel staff in street clothes looking entirely uninterested in helping us check in or being helpful in general.

Our first room was disgusting. Cigarette burns in the blankets, hair all over the bathroom floor and the WORST little balcony in the middle of the hotel so everyone passing by could see into our room. After moving on the second day to a better room, we calmed down a bit about how terrible this place was, however, the staff remained unhelpful and borderline rude.

They'd stare off into the distance while we stood in front of them to ask them questions. Then when they finally did speak with us, they were short and apparently displeased to have been disturbed.

The hotel breakfast was pretty sad in relation to the other hotels we had visited, but not the worst we'd ever had.

Overall, I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone.

The pool chairs are crap. They have ONE position. LAYING DOWN. So you cannot sit up and read. The pool was generally FILLED with screaming kids and the bar staff was as helpful and the rest of the staff.

Beds are uncomfortable and don't expect to take a bath.

Unless you book a superior room, expect to have NO view and no privacy. There is NO elevator so people with disabilities need not book at all.

In the end we were RUNNING out of the hotel and looking forward to our next Greek Island.

The Santorini Hotel was in a great position; 10 min walk to Fira and very close to Oia, beaches, restaurants, and car/ quad bike rentals. The pool is definitely one of the hotels best features; equipped with a diving board, bar and great lounge chairs.
The staff were all very friendly and advised me of the best bars, sites to visit, they even offered to take me out when they found out i was staying an extra night by myself!
Thanks for a great holiday, I'm sure i'll be back again soon.

“Great Hotel”

Santorini Palace

My parents stayed in the Santorini Palace back in 2001 and they loved it. We chose option 3 on our tour package - and when SP was on the list as our hotel I was happy. When I started reading reviews on the site I was a bit weary. However, I have to say that the hotel was great. If you are someone that wants a caldera view and an equivalent US 5 star property you won't be happy. If you want a nice hotel, good view of the opposite side of santorini, nice breakfast and helpful staff - you will enjoy your stay at SP. The room was always kept nice and clean including the bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. The pool at the hotel was also very nice and very clean. The staff at the pool even gave free drinks to friends we met during our stay. The desk staff also gave us 2 free internet tickets. I don't understand what people on this site are complaining about?
Another plus of staying at the Palace is that you are just outside Fira - away from the hustle and bustle. If you choose to walk into town it is a short 5-10min. Also, just down the hill from the hotel there are about 4 great restaurants - dont be afraid to try any one of them. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We did not stay here but as guests of a neighbouring hotel we were entitled to use the pool.

Because the lobby looked so nice, and the hotel seemed so big we had high expectations for the pool. It is quite big and has a panoramic view of the other side (not caldera) of Santorini.

However there were no umbrellas provided, all the lounge chairs were non adjustable, plastic and uncomfortable. It was impossible to read. And because it was high up, the wind was brutal - impossible to relax even if there weren't 10 rowdy (drunk?) young adults throwing each other into the pool.

I was glad we did not transfer to this hotel - no substance behind the glam.
