This is a privately owned collection of restored replicas of the wall paintings found at the prehistoric city of Akrotiri. (Some of the originals can be found at the Museum of Prehistoric Thira, in Fira, while others are at the National Archaeologic Museum, in Athens).
The collection is exhibited in a restored mansion and it is set up in such a way that you can study the murals from up close. A multi-language, very detailed guide is also provided at the entrace. The murals themselves are so vibrant and lively, it's almost hard to believe they were painted almost 3700 years ago!
My only objection was the splitting up of some of the paintings and their exhibition in different rooms, which made no sense to me. Other than that, I feel this museum is well worth your time (it probably won't take you more than an hour, tops!).
