We chose LaQuinta based on a coupon discount book. We were traveling from Lyon Mountain, NY through to Maine and decided to stay in Plattsburgh overnight. The desk clerk wouldn't honor our discount coupon because she said there was no room available at "that rate". Actually she said there was only ONE room available, period and that was a smoking room. Against my better judgment, we stayed. The room smelled like an ashtray, the area for the continental breakfast was small and filthy and the staff was morose. One of the worst I've stayed at especially at the higher rate we paid.

We had a nice time at this off the highway hotel. The room was nice and big, king bed and free WIFI.
Breakfast included muffins, toast and those famous waffles that you cook yourself.
The indoor pool was chilly but the large whirlpool was very cozy.
Restaurants are a short car drive away.

We had a little trouble finding the hotel, I had three maps to work with, and each was worse than the other one! Anyway, we arrived late (12:30 a.m.) to the hotel, but the lady at the desk was pleasant and efficient and we were into our room within 8 minutes. Room was clean and tidy, bathroom shiny, towels large and fluffy, mattress most welcoming. When I got up the next morning, I felt like that was the best sleep I had for a long time! Even slept past breakfast. Paid approx $72 ($85 Can) and well satisfied. Mall just around the block. The hotel is on #3, so has easy access to anywhere else you want.
I would recommend this hotel, even though I didn't get a chance to use the pool. oh well.

Check-in was quick and easy and the staff was courteous. The room was clean and spacious. This is the second LaQuinta I have stayed at, and both have had the most reliable wireless internet I've seen at any hotel. Breakfast had what I needed. It was quiet and perfect for a quick overnight stay. Like others have said, the breakfast area is a bit cramped, but actually better than the last LaQuinta I was at. Really my biggest complaint is that the parking lot seemed a bit small and crowded, otherwise a great stay!
