I have stayed at Courtyard by Marriott/Poughkeepsie for the past several years during the holiday season and have consistently found it to be clean, comfortable, and well equipped. On my recent visit last week, it was overall up to par yet just a couple of disappointments: a)the bed was much less firm as in previous years yet Marriott has been touting upgrading their rooms and b)the breakfast buffet was not open for a few days although there appeared to be enough guests to make it financially worthwhile. Instead, the motel provided an extremely modest continental breakfast of packaged donuts and plain, Lender brand style bagels (we're in NY!) in conjunction with a Bunn automatic coffee maker that consistently ran out of coffee and instead dispensed hot water. Although I understand and agree that services be limited on December 25th, the unavailabilty of the restaurant on the 26th and 27th was disappopinting and inconvenient.

Pleasant stay while scouting local colleges.

I am assuming that major renovations have been made to this property. The room seemed to be completely new, and we were more than pleased. Got this room through Priceline for about half of what the rate was that night.

No on-site dining options for lunch or dinner, but a nice breakfast for a reasonable price is offered.

Don't hesitate to book this hotel!

I am surprised by all the negative reviews. I stayed there for one night and thought it was lovely. I arrived late, and the desk clerk said I was the last one to check in (so she knew who I was). She upgraded me to a suite (maybe that was all that was left, but who cares?). I thought it was clean and quite nice.

I have stayed at Marriott Courtyard years ago and was very impress with their rooms and breakfast. The Marriott Poughkeepsie was very disappointing. At first the lobby was very nice, new and clean. No trouble checking in, very fast and efficient. Our room was old, and not very clean. The terrance was dirty. Bathroom was cleaner with old tiles and fixtures. Still, we were planning to stay for one night only and decide not to complain. The area has some nice restaurant. We have dinner at a Japanese restaurant and it was great and inexpensive. We left as soon as possible in the morning.
