Our extended family stayed at this property from Aug 17-18, 2007. We were given two connecting rooms as requested. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel sits on the water looking across to a commercial boat company. The docks at the hotel are best used at high tide but a group that was there was able to use a neighbors dock during low tide and I think the hotel helped to set this up.

The property is about 2 blocks from the main street in Beaufort where you'll find several coffee places and over a dozen restaurants. (Easily walkable and you could take your bike or rented bikes ($4 bike rentals available right from the inn) or walk a stroller along the sidewalks to the boardwalk.) There are some shops and 3-4 ice cream/dessert places, too. I highly recommend the Beaufort Grocery Co. on Queen Street for a delicious lunch or dinner. The closest accommodations to the Duke Marine Lab and NOAA which are on an adjacent island. UNC's marine lab is a quick 5 minute drive. Atlantic Beach, Fort Macon and the Aquarium are all easy trips from this location as is Camp Sea Gull and Seafarer (about 45 minutes depending on the Cherry Branch-Minnesott Ferry).

The rooms were clean. The bathrooms were fine although the shower head is geared towards more average height folks (so if you're 5'10 or taller, you may be bending a bit to wash your hair in the shower). The sink is outside the main washroom, so two people can be showering and getting ready at the same time.

There was a refreshment time from 3-6pm on Fri & Sat at which coffee, cookies, iced tea, cheese & crackers were served. The inn serves a continental breakfast which half of our party thought was more than enough.

This is a standard inn, so you can hear the footfalls in the room above you. Didn't hear too much through the walls. Nice balcony with rocking chairs for relaxing which can face the water or a side parking lot. Secure entries (the main entry and the door to the balcony both have deadbolts and chains).

Overall, would stay here again.

My friend and I had just crossed the ferry from the Outer Banks and needed a place to stay. We drove into Beaufort, NC, and saw two couples walking down the main street. Upon their recommendation we checked into the Beaufort Inn. What a lovely surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room views are either over the garden or over the water. The room was very clean and the morning breakfast was served to us in a beautiful dining room. I can't wait to go back there again and take my husband.

Location, location, location!!! Walk to the best restaurants and shop on the historic waterfront in Beaufort. The hotel itself ... immaculate! Rooms are quite pretty ... we had a king-bed waterfront view, our balcony sitting right over the water. What a gorgeous view ... couldn't have asked for more. Bathrooms are adequate-sized, very nice towels, etc., bathroom fans that WORK.

Good TV, with lots of cable channels, extra pillows in dresser drawers .... Our wireless internet connection worked just fine. Our bed was very comfortable, and the place was very quiet. Breakfast was served to you in the living room/lounge (really nice!) between 7 and 10 in the morning, and you had a choice of cereals, pastries, breakfast quiche, etc. I had the quiche which was served with a small croissant and cold stewed apples, plus OJ and coffee. They then came over and asked if we wouldn't also like to have a pastry or muffin, etc. The cookies were yummy, homemade, and the coffee was excellent, all day.

Very convenient to walk to everything, and during our two nights there, every member of staff we met was warm and cordial, couldn't do enough for you.

Really look forward to going back.

“Great choice for leisure travel in Beaufort”

I recently stayed at the Beaufort Inn in Beaufort, NC. I don't get a chance to stay at small independant hotels, versus large chain hotels. I think there were some really great things about this property and some things that needs improvement.

First, this hotel has a great location if you're visiting the Beaufort/Moorehead area on vacation. The property is right on the water, with many rooms having water views and/or balconies overlooking the waterway. The hotel is only a few blocks from downtown Beaufort, and it is not a bad walk to the shops/restaurants.

The rooms are all good size, clean, and well appointed, but nothing overly special. Each room comes with the standards you now expect in all hotels, and had a nice selection of toiltetries. The bed wasn't the most comfortable in the world, but was fine for a couple of nights.

The rooms come with free breakfast down in the office of the hotel. There is a choice of cereals, muffins/danish, and some kind of egg pie. While the food was good, asking for any substitutions or changes seemed to throw the staff into a tizzy, so I would just take what they offer.

My only complaint about this hotel and it is my compalint about most hotels, is that the wireless internet connection was completly useless. They admitted to having problems with it, but I think most hotels should offer a hardwire connection becuase unless you're right near the signal source, they never work properly.

That being said, I would recommened this property to leisure travelers, and not business travelers.

“Had a Great Time at the Beaufort Inn”

Beaufort Inn

I highly recommend the Beaufort Inn in Beaufort, NC. Just over the bridge from Morehead City and within walking distance to Front Street and all of downtown and waterfront Beaufort. This Inn has large, clean rooms, porches with rocking chairs facing the waterway and lots of amenities that made our stay so relaxing. There's a great hottub that we used twice a day! A porch swing and lounge chairs where you can lounge on the banks of the intracoastal waterway and watch the boats go by. Cookies, coffee, cheese, crackers, and sweet tea in the afternoons. A lovely dining room with sofas and stocked bookshelves. Breakfast included that was nothing fancy, but a great start to the day - cereal, breakfast pie, muffins, danishes, and fruit. The best part is the service. Dining room and check-in staff are warm, gracious, and helpful. The owner or manager was even present at Sunday morning breakfast. She made the rounds and spoke to everyone in the dining room. If you want service in a lovely hotel, check this out!
