We decided to take a chance and see if Hurricane Earl scared off enough tourists that we could find a hotel over Labor Day weekend. My husband called Saturday, requested ocean view and we were given Room 109, almost on the beach. We packed up and headed down the same day.
The building is older and not fancy at all, but it was clean. The towels were a little worn, but fresh and clean. We had two problems with the room- a burnt- out light bulb and only one coffee cup holder- that were quickly put to right by the front desk staff. The only other problem were the biting black flies, but that was to be expected after the heavy rains two days previously. My husband appreciated the full range of cable stations on the television.
The location was perfect, a very short walk over to the beach, where we spent most of our time. The room had a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. We cooked dinner in the room Sunday night and ate on the balcony. We did visit the pool and hot tub saturday night.
We had a very enjoyable time, and would definitely stay there again. I would recommend it to others as a great value with a prime location and excellent staff, but not upscale at all.
