Room was filthy (floor was dirty, debris behind dresser and side tables). Jacuzzi tub filled up with dirt and grime and the front desk sent up a bottle of cleaner for US to take care of the problem. Pool was small and dirty and the hot tub was luke warm. Fitness center needs to be updated desperately. Oh, and the railing on the balcony seemed to be made of PVC piping and not sturdy in the least. And although it was nice to see the ocean from the room, it was best viewed at night since the surrounding area is rundown. While making coffee (day 2) a cockroach ran out from under the coffeemaker. Needless to say... we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Staff didn't know how to handle the problem and the entire experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. Judging from this experience, Marriott's lost my business forever. Don't waste your time or money here. We ended up at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Wrightsville and THAT was a nice hotel. A bit more money, but hands down a better facility. We consider the first 2 days at the Courtyard a total waste and regret ever going there.

Overall, the location seems like it would be OK for a summer vacation. With the limited number of outdoor activities available, we were especially disappointed with the lack of heat in the pool. Even the hot tub was cold! It was questionable if the sheets had been changed and the pillow cases had holes in them. This is the 2nd Courtyard pool and hot tub disappointment in two nights. The bathroom light fixture was burnt out as soon as we entered the room. The fridge was dirty from spilled drinks. Even though it is off season, we deserved better.

Great hotel right on the beach. Although we were there during their low season, this place looks like it would be a fun summer stop. Within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and a short drive to Wilmington. All rooms face the ocean so you don't have to hope you get a great veiw. Clean, spacious rooms, comfy bed and pillows. The rate we got included their breakfast buffet which had made to order omelets, pancakes and french toast. We will definitely go back when the weather gets nicer.

I'm usually a cheapskate and I'll pick a property a few blocks back from the beach to save a buck or two but on this trip I decided to surprise my wife and splurge (actually the price wasn't much more that hotels further from the beach). She was thrilled that our room had an ocean view (as do ALL the rooms). It was warm enough outside to sleep with our balcony door open... we could hear the ocean all night. It was lovely.

The staff was very courteous and FRIENDLY. We've stayed at places where the staff is courteous but not friendly... it makes a big difference.

My son said that the hot-tub wasn't very hot but other than that I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. I would definitely stay there again.
