Very nice clean, centrally located hotel about 3 miles from UNC campus. Priced right, free am coffee in lobby, newspaper daily and shuttle van if you don't want to drive. No problems here.

Maybe my timing was bad but my experience was not very good at all with one exception, the desk clerk in the AM.

1. The AM hostess, if you can call her that, was extremely rude and never able to respond to request for service. She seems like she hates being there. Teddy's Restaurant is a pretty good little restaurant but would be much better if they had a polite hostess in the morning. The one they have now (Aug 2004) deserves to be fired.

2. Don't count on the hotel van picking you up on time or at all. They need someone whose only job is driving the van. The employees responsible for driving seem to consider this task their least important and the Front Desk seems to feel that way too and will cancel a run without notice if the driver is needed to help there.

3. The rates are shown as among the lowest in Chapel Hill but there are many hidden costs such as Internet access, which is so slow that it's not even worth using. Internet Access is through the television and the wireless keyboard often doesn't communicate well with the screen.

4. Watch out if they call Destiny Destinations to take you to a place that the van doesn't go. There is one driver who is very polite but there is another who is very rude. Again you may never be picked up on time if at all.

5. The housekeeping staff only cleans your room if they want to. If you're not checking out, then your room may not be cleaned or only partially.

We stayed here in February 2004. Rooms were clean and quiet. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We had a very good rate, and enjoyed our stay. Nice bar and restaurant. Convenient to stores & close to downtown. Handy shuttle bus. If rooms that open to the outside upset you this is not for you, but this was not an issue for us.
