The Charlotte area chain claims they were founded “to fill the void between fast food and full service restaurants by offering greater selection and better quality than fast food, and faster service and better value than full service restaurants.” My husband’s co-worker, who worked in Charlotte, highly recommended this place when we were in town to visit our son at UNCC. Not too far from the university is one of the Showmars. Upon his insistence, we all went there for lunch.
We are glad he insisted on going to the one at 115 McCullough Drive – just a two minute drive from the backside of UNCC. Our son is not very adventurous, and was overwhelmed by the menu board. He ended up getting a cheeseburger and fries. My husband and I had their gyro with french fries and a drink. We both opted for the sweet iced tea which was very fresh. I am a native of North Carolina, and I know when iced tea is not fresh. This iced tea had just been made.
The three of us were given a number to take to our table. Less than five minutes later, our food arrived. All of us thought the lightly seasoned crinkle fries were very good. Our son is particular about his French fries, and he had no troubles finishing them off in record time. The gyros were delicious! For the price we paid for them, it was a definite bargain. The staff at Showmars constantly made sure our drinks were full. The manager even asked if we wanted iced teas for the road! For under $20, we had a delicious lunch, and a very pleasant experience. Showmars will definitely be a place we will be stopping at while visiting our son. You should too.
