“Not terribly impressed”

As far as I can tell, the rooms on the concierge floor aren't any better than the standard rooms. There's no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The "king" bed was more like a queen. The hot tub was broken and the pool was as warm as a bathtub.

“Very nice”

Marriott at Research Triangle Park

23 Sep 2007

Stayed here for one night on business on the concierge level. Ironically stayed in room 612, the same room as a previous reviewer who thought the room was dated. That review was obviously prior to a renovation as the room was freshly decorated with newer furniture. The bed was the "new" Marriott type plush bed. Overall, tthe room was very nice and comfortable. All hotel personnel were very friendly and accomodating.

Concierge lounge looked newly decorated and the breakfast was very good with excellent scramled eggs.

Had a business meeting the next morning and used one of many tables in the bar. We ordered a pot of coffee and after the meeting the personnel would not let me pay for it. I know this isn't a significant cost savings but to me is symbolic of what good hotel management does to create good will and make guests want to return and recommend the hotel.

The only negative was that only one of the two elevators went to the concierge floors but I assume this will be remedied. I wouldn't let this stop you from staying at this fine hotel.

“LOVED the Marriott RTP!”

I booked a room at the Marriott RTP for our wedding night due to the fact that we would be flying out of RDU very early the next morning for our honeymoon. I chose this hotel based on recommendations from others and I was NOT disappointed. The hotel knew it was our wedding night (I had contacted them regarding a late arrival) and we arrived to find our room had been upgraded to concierge level, 6th floor, and we also had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries when we arrived! It was so wonderful of them to make the effort to have the room and night be a little more special. We only got to sleep about 4 hours because we arrived late and our flight left at 7am so we had to leave very early for the airport, but the bed was soooo comfortable. I'm sure the fact that I was very tired helped, but I am picky about beds. Though I'm sure they do such things for other guests on a regular basis it was nice that they didn't make us feel like just another guest in any old hotel on our wedding night. I will definitely stay there again even if it is not a special occasion.

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott at Research Triangle Park for one night on 3/3/07. We were there to see a concert at the RBC Center, and then leave the next morning, so we were only in the hotel for a limited amount of time, but I will do my best to give you some input about the hotel.

The hotel is under considerable renovation, so there was a lot of construction activity, and the restaurant, lounge, and other areas were closed due to the renovation.

The hotel seems a bit older, but, as I said, it is currently being renovated, so that will help some. The public areas are being renovated, though, so observations about the rooms probably will remain accurate for some time.

We stayed on the concierge level (room 612). The room (and surrounding areas) seemed a bit older, but it was nice, clean and comfortable. We wanted more than the two towels they provided, and after we called, they brought more right up. They also brought an extra blanket promptly upon our request. The walls were a bit thin (we could hear our neighbors talking late at night - it wasn't ridiculously loud, but it WAS noticeable)...

The hotel has a free shuttle to/from the airport (about 5 minutes away). There is not a lot of stuff to do in the immediate vicinity, though. I think you would definitely need a car if you wanted to go just about anywhere in the area. If we were staying any longer than overnight, I definitely would have rented a car to get around.

Basically, for the price ($109/night), I thought we had a nice stay in a nice, mid-level hotel. I am certain that it will move up to a "really nice hotel" as soon as the renovations are done, but at this point, I can only give it an "average."

Don't let that discourage you from staying there, though, it was definitely a pleasant stay, and I would stay there again if we go back to the area in the future.

“Great Experience At The Marriott!”

I visited RTP for business and booked my room at the Marriott based on Trip Advisor reviews. I was not disappointed. My non-smoking king room was on the concierge level - I needed a key card to access that floor. But it meant that everyone was there for the same reason - business. The floor was quiet and secure.

I arrived late and was greeted by the friendliest young man at the desk. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable. I ordered room service at the very last minute and they were so kind and accommodating. My room was sparkling clean and comfortable. The bed was brilliant! Heavenly! Such comfortable bedding! The room was well-appointed and had everything I needed available and in working order. I slept like a baby. The next morning the front desk arranged a special shuttle for me to get to my meeting. They really went the extra mile.

For business or leisure, I cannot recommend the Marriott in RTP enough. It was a pleasure. I'll definitely stay there again and again.
