The Morehead Manor was the most unique B & B I've ever stayed in.

My wife and I spent 3 nights there, and loved every minute.
1 We've never stayed in a restored mansion of such historic import. The more closely I inspected it the more fascinated I became. In many ways it seemed like something you pay to tour through, not a place you get to stay.
2 We walked to the Durham Bulls park and it's restaurants, and it was an easy drive to both my Research Triangle Park business and our tourist destinations such as the Brightleaf restaurants and Duke University. A box of written directions to local places is provided.
3 The interior art and decor is very professional, tasteful, and probably unlike anything you'll see elsewhere.
4 Monica and Daniel were wonderful hosts, and very respectful of our privacy. We had private parking, a huge great yard with swings, access to many other rooms for dining, media, or just quiet reading. There was high speed Internet and a printer out in the hall.

I had an important meeting to attend in Durham, NC and decided to stay at a B&B and see how different another B&B was in this city. Since my husband and I are innkeepers, you could say I am rather fussy and critical. To my delight I found Morehead Manor B&B to contain wonderful sculptures and fine art. I loved the mural in the dinning room. I liked the way the innkeeper, Monica, sat down to breakfast with us, and socialized, as well as ate her own cooking. With such an old home I was amazed at the lack of any dust on the beautiful hard wood floors. I especially appreciated her talent to maintain the beauty of this grand home yet furnish it with such comfortable overstuffed sofas and chairs. The home was so spacious, as was my room with such tall ceilings; there was always an alcove to escape to, away from others, to read without having to hide in my room. The close walking distance to the refurbrished old tobacco warehouses which now contain wonderful restaurants and shopping was an added plus. It was also nice to have off street parking in such a busy city. I appreciated the great directions from Daniel in how to find the Beltway to head home, as well as recommendations for Dinning. It was indeed relaxing to have such a gracious host and hostess take care of me without constantly hovering; I never had to ask for a thing, they seemed to know what I wanted . If I have to come back to Durham, I know where I will stay!

“The Worst B & B Ever!”

Morehead Manor Bed and Breakfast

This is the worst B & B. Everything was dirty and grimey. Owner cleans it-- NOT professionally cleaned. We saw ROACHES crawling in the halls and found one in our suitcase. After reading the favorable reviews my wife and I thought it would be nice. They must have personal interests. And it's on a VERY NOISEY INTERSECTION with loud truck traffic.

“Roaches and Noise”

Morehead Manor Bed and Breakfast

This one has seen better days. Everything was run down and the cleanliness had much to be desired. We found a huge roach in the bathroom. YUK!! It was a noisy place because of it's location right off a major highway AND on the corner of two busy streets with loud trucks and sirens at all hours which could be heard even with the windows closed.
In it's favor the breakfasts were excellent especially if you have a sweet tooth. We usually love B & B's and always try to find them as an alternative to the Hotels.

Management Response
Jazzymmanor, Onwer/ Innkeeper
(Management representative)

Unfortunately these guests were unhappy from the moment that arrived. Because we were unable to meet their unrealistic expectations, we offered to allow them to find other accomodations to their liking. They were unhappy with EVERYTHING, even the prestegious Arrowhead Inn and the Old North Durham Inn. Our Inn is a 1910 Colonial Revival Styled Mansion that was restored in 1997. The Inn has unbelieveble charm, mohogany wood cabinets, hardwood floors, ornate dental moulding, original Italian marble fireplace hearth & crystal chandelier plus many more unique features. If you consider that run down...let me live here forever.
We are inspected annually by the county health department and bi-annually by the North Carolina Bed & Breakfast and Inns Association (NCBBI) and pass both inspections with high scores. Personally, if there were problems with cleanliness, as a guest I would not have chanced eating the breakfast. One thing this business has taught me is that you cannot please everyone all of the time. We are only sorry they chose to post untruths. Stop by and see for yourself.

“the Perfect B & B”

Morehead Manor Bed and Breakfast

We've travelled for years staying in B&Bs and Morehead Manor is outstanding. First location is perfect, on a gracious tree-lined street yet in the heart of town with many restaurants and attractions within easy walking distance. Second, house has been magnificantly restored with large rooms, high ceilings, beautiful/elegant yet inviting furnishings, etc. Beds are very comfortable and there are many windows, which DO open. Third, this B&B has the most common area space per bedroom of any place we have ever stayed plus some lovely outdoors areas. And let's not forget the food....delicious (and ample) breakfasts and homemade desserts, tea, coffee, sodas and water always available. And last, but not least, the very gracious, interesting and just plain fun owners, Monica and Daniel. Morehead Manor is a true gem.
