We are New Yorkers who happened to be in Durham for a long weekend staying at a hotel two blocks away from this restaurant. We made a reservation for a Saturday night and all four of us were very pleased. First of all, we liked the concept of their menu which allows you to either order three courses for $30. OR you could just mix and match. The first course was a small appetizer for only $6. (my cauliflower salad was simply delicious). I skipped the second small dish next course (at $8.) and instead had a smaller sized main dish which was flank steak (at $16.) which was very flavorful and tender and served with some wonderful potatoes. We ordered a side of fried onions rings for the table which were lightly coated and thinly sliced - in other words, just great. Creme broule finished the meal nicely. We were impressed.
