Check in was a nightmare for us. The first room the guy gave us was filthy! Stains all over the carpet, wires hanging out of the ceiling, pillows looked like they were urinated on, pubic hairs in the sheets, and the bathroom light wasn't working so they had a big lamp up on the countertop with no shade. When you go to the bathroom you get a headache from the bright lamp with no shade on it! There was no iron or ironing board as promised. We went to get a refund and he decided to give us another room to get us to stay. This second room was just as bad, mildew all over the bathroom, pathetic pillows, smelly carpet, bugs, you name it. We tried a third room, in their first building (supposed to be the better building where they let the more upper class people stay). It was a little better, but by morning the room was full of ants from the pizza we ordered the night before. Bathroom was filthy, everything had greasy fingerprints on it. There were spiders in the room and the ancient TV was so old that we couldn't see the picture. Remote wouldn't work. Shower woudn't drain at ALL, and we could hear the neighbors conversations and sexual activities. To top it off, we were charged for phone calls WE NEVER MADE! $68. TOTAL for this night in HELL. This place is totally nasty inside and out. Ice machine doesn't even work. Lobby was nice and the mangaer was all dressed up. Very decieving at check in. Shame on them!!!! DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!!!!

We were VERY disappointed with our stay at the HoJo in Durham. The whole hotel had a clammy, greasy feel. The lobby was disordered, random items strewn around the television (in front of which the attendant would lounge, watching to see if anyone would come in).

The floor of our hallway had a huge bleach (?) stain on it as we walked to our room. Already, we could tell that the hotel had a strange musty smell. Our room smelled worse -- of humidity and mildew. The AC did little to get rid of the odor and clamminess. The sheets felt damp with the humidity, and the pillows were limp, thin little pieces of cloth.

The bathroom floor was wet even before we arrived.

Our room had no iron (I had to ask for one) and no foam ironing board top. When I asked the front desk for one, he returned with a yellowed, stained strip of cloth. My wife and I left earlier than we needed to the next day just so we could relax a little before her job interview.

Anyways, don't stay here. Seriously, don't.

I really loved this neat place. The staff was very very nice and friendly and made us feel at home. They had large rooms with nwe 27inch tv's, coffee makers, ironing boards and agreat breakfast. most new hotels dont have this at $99.99. We paid less than $50.00. I will always come back.

I don't usually write reviews for hotels; however, this hotel deserves one. Mistakes such as getting into the room and finding out that it hasn't been cleaned yet are acceptable. That the key doesn't work one or two times is, sort of ok. In this hotel I had to change rooms 2 times, one because the room wasn't clean, the second because the room vibrated, thanks to the laundry room that was located in the first floor about 50 FEET from my room. The third room was clean, didn't vibrate, but had an awful smell. The service at the hotel wasn't too happy about me telling them about the inconveniences I was going through. The front desk attendand yelled at me when I told him about the rooms. Therefore, it will be better if you spend 10 or 20 more dollars by staying on a different hotel since this one is not worthy your money and/or your patience.
